It's less that they couldn't reproduce it, it's more that doing those actions in earth gravity caused sharper bouncing movements in the helmet/other equipment than it did in the lighter gravity.

But, I agree, this alone is pretty meaningless. It was a good excuse to go on a zero g airplane, tho

She's a very pretty girl but there are things about her I like that aren't at all related to looks. Like this.

I know very little about moon landing conspiracy theories, but I do respect Dave McGowan a lot and apparently he's taken the issue up

No mention of Stanley Kubrick in here either though.....

http://www.davesweb.cnchost.com/Apollo1.html

since most people won't read it, I'll quote this because I thought this was an intriguing argument

Quote:
Am I the only one, by the way, who finds it odd that people would move in slow motion on the Moon? Why would a reduced gravitational pull cause everything to move much more slowly? Does a 50-pound weight fall more slowly than a 300-pound weight? Given the complete lack of air resistance, shouldn’t things actually fall faster on the Moon?
yes, no? pure insanity?

so there are actually 6 different parts (I think) to that series. I had only read part 1 when I posted that

definitely some good stuff and interesting stuff and I was wondering why Dave McGowan wasn't finishing the Laurel Canyon series that had so engrossed me this summer

Re air resistence, that comment is so idiotic as to make me comfortable that the guy has no idea what he's saying.

Gravitational force determine how fast things fall, until you hit terminal velocity, so the fact that the moon is smaller than the earth is wh things would fall more slowly.

That's pretty much primary school stuff.

so if it has 1/6th the gravity then things close to its surface would fall 1/6th as slowly?

not arguing with you here, just curious

also Kokiri,

what about this

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitational_acceleration

Quote:
n physics, gravitational acceleration is often described as the acceleration of an object caused by the force of gravity from another object. Any object will accelerate in a gravitational field at the same rate, regardless of the mass of the object. On the surface of the Earth, all objects are said to fall with an acceleration of somewhere between 9.78 and 9.82 m/s² depending on latitude, with a conventional standard value of exactly 9.80665 m/s², (approx. 32.174 ft/s2).[1] [2]
again, I'm ignorant in these matters
10-21-2009 , 05:04 AM
ok, I see what the article is saying

the size of the object falling, not the size of the gravitational field

n/m

i really think we did this whole routine with the 9/11 bs, too

you seem to be in a good mood today

and yeah, its 1/6th the acceleration

All I can say is that American taxpayers were pretty dumb to pay for the moon landing no matter if it actually happened or not.

I saw nothing even remotely valid in that article. Lots of misunderstandings of basic science, innuendo presented as argument, and no concept of the fact that manned missions to the moon - then and now - are nothing more than a PR stunt. Until they decide to build a base there, there IS no reason to go back.

but I want a moon rock

moon chicks are super tall and **** - I prefer my women to be shorter than me.

racist ban.

also: your loss.

Meh moon doesn't seem like the place I'd want to live.

Holiday/Vacation perhaps?

Heard that the golf is pretty good.
10-21-2009 , 01:47 PM
Golf is much easier when the hole is a crater.
10-21-2009 , 01:55 PM
and low gravity allows the fall to travel further

Last edited by riverfish1; 10-21-2009 at 01:55 PM. Reason: no atmosphere so less air resistance too

However, good luck finding your ball after hitting it for a mile...

i think you must have only read part 1. there are 6 parts total.

I'm sure we covered this before. They also discovered the space pen. It writes underwater! And in space!
