yeah i share his views hella close! and soooo many of his posts totally crack me up. i wish people would laugh at them more like i do.

people on here call me an idiot or whatever, and it happens irl too lol!! fml! but usually i just laugh it off cuz it's kinda funny. i AM kind of an idiot! but so what?! who cares?

although i do understand being upset and/or confused. someone i care about and respect called me a racist because i said kobe bryant is a rapist. and it would be laughable cuz i'm ldo not a racist and that has nothing to do with why i call kobe a rapist. but it's not laughable because i care about what she thinks. a lot.

so idk... i can understand being upset.

also, defending hilary clinton is a bad hill to die on. you probably both love rosa luxembourg! she was a hero! we all love her! except maybe mets and lucky

That’s your privileged white male opinion. It’s not mine.

im just a mildly despised pariah

idk how true it is, but it seems like we are all pretty privileged itt

sure we all have our burdens, and people are prejudiced against us in various ways. but all in all, we are privileged

You’re not despised at all, largely because taking immense pleasure in being the biggest ******* possible isn’t a huge part of your schtick.

i'd love to see an argument between wrongheaded libertarian birdman, and current day communist birdman! lol! would be hilarious!

and i used to have nearly opposite political thoughts too. ugh, it'd be so cringeworthy to see my teen self argue politics. it used to be my goal to sellout fml lol!!!

i used to wear gold chains and chase girls! lol!!!!!!!! omg!

Yeah pretty embarrassing tbh. Obviously we know who ended up winning that argument and it wasn’t particularly close. Not proud of my younger years if I am being honest.
02-07-2020 , 07:11 PM
people are supposed to become more conservative politically as they age. obviously me and birdman did the opposite. it's my guess that a lot of people do. maybe even most people? it seems natural to me to become more compassionate as you age, and want to share more, and be more fair.

but as a society we are shifting to the right over the last several decades... at least in one way. in other ways society generally shifts to the left over the time, no? like slavery is outlawed. genocide is mostly frowned on. homosexuality is mainstream. interracial marriage is legal.

but i guess wealth inequality has increased over time. idk. i'm just rambling sorry. i been inside and mostly alone for a week

My teen self (politically at least--I've never worn jewelry) was you. Nobody I discuss politics with reminds me more of how I was than you. All of the America is the great Satan stuff was how I thought (and it still is)--but there is a limit to it.

You understand that our current positions aren't even that dissimilar. You like lumping me in with Mets and I assume that's because you've never actually taken the time to actually understand my positions, but moving from Filthy to where I am currently wasn't a drastic move. Again, the only time I ever voted was for Gore.

People are supposed to grow in their understanding as they age. The whole left/right, liberal vs conservative stuff is largely artificial. That's the difference between me now vs teenage me. Teenage me still bought into the left vs right stuff and that is what you still do. Try to see through that. The left is just as manipulated as the right is. Birdman understands that better than you but has gotten caught up in Marxism as a cure-all.

Marxism isn’t a cure for anything. It’s a scientific analysis of social change.

The media pretended to hate him enough and I was naive. And I knew/know the media is rotten. If you're going to hold that against me forever then ok. I didn't vote him and it wasn't like he was running against a hero of the people.

Is the argument that some day the people are going to rise up and overthrow their corporate masters? Because that isn't happening.
02-07-2020 , 08:11 PM
today i heard that hume said the oppressed always have the power. trippy, but true. except not really. the oppressed are always ****ed. their power is completely dependent on organizing, which never happens in a meaningful way
02-07-2020 , 09:01 PM
It is is healthy discourse when someone respectfully takes exception to and/or challenges another poster's position.

But is both annoying and weak ass when the rebuttal includes claiming....."and you hold that position because you are_______"

Insert any of
-white
-male
-female
-wealthy
-privileged

We all know that how people come to hold any position/ideology/world view etc is complex and influenced by a number of factors. As such, it seems pretty weak for any poster here to claim they know why someone holds the views they do.
02-07-2020 , 09:33 PM
When it's "you're a white female" and "but you're a white male" and the posters are being completely earnest then it's cute.
When it's "The Venezuelans you know are probably white and rich but I don't really have a clue" then it's annoying.
