To advance the story a bit - I obviously took no action while on the road other than to note where I first noticed the cop car and where our paths diverged, and to memorize the squad car number

So from there the question becomes should I contact the relevent police department to report what I saw or should I do nothing. And if I do call to report should I give them my name and contact information or do it anonymously?

at giving them your info.

one of the times cops did horrible things to me, i tried to complain about it and got nowhere. i didn't even get close to getting somewhere.

it was in the middle of park with dozens of witnesses. i did absolutely nothing wrong, and was totally cooperative and passive.

Anonymously, from a payphone, or not at all.

You are so going to get ****ed with if you complain and they know who you are, I would avoid that at all costs tbh

Yep. Without video evidence you have nothing. But if can give an anonymous report go for it.

Once, I was pulled over and asked to step out of my car. It was snowing and dark, and I was alone. Several cop cars came, and there was a series of questions. I was respectful but politely declined to answer certain questions.

At one point, one of the cops (all male), said to me sort of menacingly "We're trying to be nice to you", and it frightened me. I cried and said I wanted to go home. They let me go.

Did I report them? Fuuuuuckkkk no.

Broken tail light, btw

They didn't tell me until they let me go

Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star they let you do it. You can do anything ... Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.

I think at this point you do nothing. You've got nothing that's actionable, the only time it's useful is when something else goes down and you could be a corroborating witness to the state of the cop So maybe send yourself something with that's time-stamped and summarises the details in case you need proof, and pay attention to the local news for a few days.

Herbie, submit a written complaint, via USPS certified mail, to internal affairs (you can also send one to the county or city human resources dept). Include date, time, and location of incident, along with any identifying marks on squad car. Note whether the officer's blue lights were engaged and describe in detail your observations (crossed which lines # times, speed relative to your vehicle, behavior at intersections, etc).

Included the certified mail number on the complaint. When you see it delivered on the USPS website, print out a PDF of the delivery confirmation. If you are concerned with anonymity, do not include a return address, or get a lawyer to allow you to use their address (in which case add a return receipt to the certified mail).

If you don't want to get loud, you're done.

While it is unlikely that any direct, disciplinary action will be taken from the complaint, it will be a mark on the officer's file, which is accessible via Open Records, may inhibit the officer's promotion or even lateral transfer, and could be used against the officer/department if repeat behavior causes any injury or damage.

Wouldn't surprise me. Recent report shows that in a 9 year period over 400 cops in the US were charged with rape while on the job and over 600 cases of forced groping.

Domestic violence is also much more common from police than the general population

In general, positions like cop etc that are imbued with certain special powers are, to women, just higher-powered men who can **** with you and are more likely to get away with it. Extra dangerous, in other words.

Once I was traveling through the Utah NPs alone with my dog. I'd gotten up really early for sunrise in Canyonlands, which is very desolate, especially in early October. I hadn't seen a single other person on the drive in (~20 miles to the entrance, and another ~10 miles to the end of the canyon road). There is no cell service.

When I came past the entrance gate, the ranger said to me that I was the first person in that morning, and I thought that was nice because I'd have the place to myself.

About 20 minutes later, I stopped along the canyon road to let my dog out. I got out of my car, but before I could let my dog out from the back, the same ranger pulled up in his truck right beside me. He got out and started asking me questions like if I needed help or a map or a treat for my dog. I said no and stayed right next to my car door. He approached a bit, and my dog started losing her mind. He stopped, and said to be careful or have a nice time or some generic goodbye and left.

I got back in my car and left immediately to a different spot. I carried my taser the rest of the morning.

Its super desolate
