Like teachers undoubtably work too hard and are under-compensated. The counter to that is not to then compare them to other jobs—because those other jobs are probably also over worked and under compensated

not sure if you're joking or serious.

obviously contribution to society is basically nothing. and pay can be absurdly high. but there is def a ton of stress and heartbreak. it's really conducive to a terrible lifestyle... sleep habits, substance abuse, physical inactivity

i've gone 18 months losing money.

this month i'm down about 10k

Not really. The orientalist (racist) view of Korea is that South Korea has been civilized by the West while the DPRK remains “uncivilized” because they are not under the influence of Western culture et al.

if Harlem was a government that forcibly kept its people locked in Harlem and wouldn't let people leave to see their families for 60 years, this would be an apt comparison

I think it would but then can the north Koreans do no wrong? Obviously they can. So it's a tricky spot. You want to encourage good behaviour but you don't want to be patronizing either.
