This “you want nk to fail/the economy to tank/etc so you can blame trump, you clearly hate the Korean people/America/budgerigars” is a really ****ty and uncharitable representation of complex human psychology. Is there satisfaction in being proven right? Of course. Does that mean I’m rooting for the negotiations to fail? Nope. But equally denuclearisation, which is what mets was arguing trump was getting towards, isn’t close to being within the spectrum of achievable aims (IMO), so what is one supposed to think about it?

Also, it’s not clear to me what the best possible outcome is for the N Korean people & how to achieve it. Cosying up to the Kim regime and sustaining it isn’t obviously it afaics. And the same goes for South Koreans and Japanese.

Bottom line, I think the best outcome re North Korea and trump is probably trump gets distracted by something else and nothing happens. Longer term, who the **** knows.
