Let's try this again.

Specifics

This will be a double round-robin tournament (i.e. all participants will play 1each other twice, once with White and once with Black).
Exception: if there are only four players available, there will be a quadruple round-robin tournament.
Players will have 48 hours to make a move (of course, they are more than welcome to move faster if they wish to do so).
The clock will stop every Sunday at Midnight (EST) and restart every Monday at midnight (EST).
Each game will take place in a separate game thread, and players will post their moves (in algebraic notation) in the gamethread.
Players are expected to post diagrams at least every five moves (here's a handy tool for posting diagrams).

Moving on time and other rules

Please be aware that this tournament may last several months.
No research of any kind will be allowed (this includes engine help, opening books and endgame tables).
Players are allowed to take one vacation by PMing me. The vacation may not last longer than two weeks.
If a player knows he or she will not be able to make a move on time, but does not wish to take a vacation, they should PM me in advance and gain extra 24h. They may do so up to three times during the tournament.
Players who fail to make a move on time gain a strike. Strikes do not expire.
Upon your three strikes, you lose the game you are currently playing.
Upon four strikes, you are out of the tournament (you will either be subbed out or removed altogether).
If a player is removed from the tournament and no sub is available, they will be awarded a loss in all their remaining games.

I am looking for 8-10 players, but will run the tournament with 4 players or more.

Excellent! If we do not get any more players, we can have a quadruple round-robin, but I def hope we can get more and have a double round-robin.

I am going to keep this sign-up thread open until next Sunday evening.

If anyone's curious about the randing system, I ranked the six players into an order with random.org, thus assigning each player a number from 1 to 6. Then I used the table for 5 and 6 players from this site. For rounds 6 through 10, I just inverted the colours from rounds 1 through 5.

Here are the first round pairings:

Sun Tzu vs Onuzq
Eric vs UncleDynamite
xander biscuits vs Cuthalion

I will now create the three game threads and alert the participants.

Thanks for running this, UD. Thanks to all the participants.

As for me winning, I got really lucky at the right times; I don't think I'm as good as the score suggests. I tried to surprise players like UncleDynamite, or at least deviate from standard book. After that, my strategy was mostly to wait and try not to do anything that might leave me vulnerable.
