Other than Well Named, who else are we about to "permanently" ban? Other than Well Named, who else are we about to "permanently" ban?

They suck though.

BGG is not too bad and has some decent players but other than that all the other sites are terrible.

The survivor game was not werewolf and was already ongoing at the time of the werewolf ban.

Also had the mod from survivor messaged me I would have posted. I believed that lying low in the game of survivor to be a valid strategy, obviously others disagree.

He circumvented a ban. That's not acceptable. When you get kicked out of somewhere, you don't get to just sneak back in and expect to stay if you didn't cause any trouble since sneaking back in.

If you want to come back, you respect your ban and then come back when the very forgiving POG mods tell you you can come back.

tl;dr I don't give a **** about his previous offenses. Ban him for at least a year for his ban circumvention shenanigans.
I think I'm mostly in this boat. He asked to come back, it was put up for discussion, and the consensus was overwhelmingly in favor of keeping him banned. He snuck back in about a month later.

The main issue that caused him to get banned in the first place was that he doesn't care about anyone but himself. The main reason that I (not speaking on behalf of others here) was not in favor of overturning the ban was that it seemed like he hadn't changed at all in that regard, based on what he wrote to us when asking for reinstatement. And we're still seeing the same thing in this thread where he still seems to think it's ok that he evaded his ban because it was the only way that he could get what he wanted.

I know little about what he's done on his current account, but public sentiment would have to be strongly in his favor in order to offset the other issues, and it doesn't seem to be there too much at all.

here, let's play a game
  • someone gets arrested for repeatedly assaulting people, attempted murder, etc.
  • he gets his parole hearing
  • after careful consideration and due process, parole is denied
  • he decides to escape from prison because he doesn't like how the parole hearing went and manages to go a few months with only the occasional light assault and such
  • he is then identifed and caught

is the correct response:

1) throw him back in jail
2) decide that he's "reformed" and let him go because he hasn't tried to murder anyone for a few months

only on POG is this much of a discussion

indeed, who can forget the famous survivor winner Silent Pete

Culture here is pretty weird. People who don't even play games anymore have strong opinions on who should be allowed to play in games they aren't even in.

Don't understand it. Meh.

Do you guys secretly wager large sums of money on WW games or something? Is there an underground gambling network I am unaware of?

It is not a screw you type situation.

There were a few rather vocal people about me never being allowed back.

Then there were people that did not really know the whole story and had only heard through the rumour mill. Those people had an even worse opinion because they hard only heard bad stuff.

There were a number of people that were fine with it.

There were probably an even larger number who did not care enough to post on the subject.

It is not like I am out to get people or make life difficult.

Obviously I am bad at expressing myself and that is why a lot of people are unable/don't want to read me in games.

if you get booted out of college, what you do is enroll in community college and pull straight A's for 4 semesters before transferring back in. NOT, crash in your friend's dorm room and go to frat parties and pretend you're a college student until your parents find out.

so, like, if you had 20 games on BGG where you crushed the games and people were like, "wow, this guy is a pretty awesome poster" and won awards and **** (i'm sure every site has circle-jerk awards/draft threads, rite?), then there might perhaps be a case for your return. something to think about before you plan your next return on another gimmick, dude.

Moreover, some of those with the strongest opinions never played with magic before his ban

The amount of public shaming toward a person who just wants to play games and isn't hurting anyone is shameful and you guys are acting like herd mentality bullies.

I find it distasteful Have fun with your witch hunt.

Soah it is not true that I only care about myself.

Me coming back to POG has not harmed anybody.

I was banned for breaking games. I said I would not break games and people said no to me coming back. I don't think they were being objective about it, they were just thinking about how they felt screwed by me in the past. Cant say I blame them for that.

Nowhere have I said that what I have done is ok, I have no idea where you get this stuff from.

Do you even play werewolf anymore? Do not think I have been in a game with you since coming back. How does it affect you if I play or not?

well obviously, but the point is also quite clear

I mean, the counterargument is that he hasn't completely ****ed up a game again, yet, if you ignore the nonposting/MK thing from post 2 of this thread, which by itself as a one time thing would be no big deal because stuff happens

the reason that is a terrible argument is that I am quite certain there were also some games that magic_gazz didn't completely **** up under that SN, and yet here we are having this discussion after watching someone get temp banned, perma banned, having the perma ban reviewed by other people and upheld, and deciding that the permaban didn't need to apply to him because he felt like it, so it's clear that that in itself isn't a very good reason

I don't even know why I'm getting remotely worked up about this but I actually am

Not an award winning kind of person.

I have played a bunch of games on BGG and caused problems in none of them. That should be some sort of evidence in my favour.

I'm just too lenient overall for the average bear

I don't see eye to eye with most humans

But I've said what I wanted to say. Good luck sorting it out

This is just silly.

Someones parole hearing would not be decided by the victims of his crime.

Have you had any issues with me as thediceman?
