Hello frands,

As many of you may have noticed, Timelady and SGT RJ have both been Consumed By Real Life lately, and haven't had much time to put arrows on sheep threads, send infractions to your favorite poggers, or otherwise effectively wield the BanHammer of Doom. Although TimeLady did run a pretty sweet POG Anniversary WW game which I would have won if there was any justice in this godforsaken universe.

In any case, my understanding is that TimeLady wants to retire. I think RJ hasn't officially decided, but she's quite busy, so either way we need at least one new modulator, and maybe two. I think things have been running reasonably well, but this is also a good thread to tell me why and how terribly wrong I am if you disagree.

TL, RJ, and I had discussed people we thought would be good mods, but it seemed appropriate to have a public discussion. So: nominate yourself, nominate someone else, express your willingness or unwillingness. There may be a poll at some point.

When discussing other nominations, it's fine (and necessary!) to provide negative feedback, but please keep it at least reasonably civil and substantive.

What is Needed

90% of the time it's just little stuff. Approving PMs for gimmicks, thread icons, spam, blah blah blah. And then occasionally you have to put out ye olde drama-inducing flame war. Towards the latter, to be qualified you at least have to do a plausible job of convincing the rubes that you're not a complete *******, and are somewhat impartial and fair.

Besides the normal forum modding stuff, It would be great if someone wanted to help with werewolf scheduling. I am not really that good at it. It would also be great if someone was interested in doing cool things with sheep and other style games, or if you have other cool ideas to bring new games or new players into POG.

Timing

This isn't set in stone, but my rough plan is to let this thread run for a few days, collect nominees, poll them privately to see if they are interested, and then run a public poll of the ones who are interested, then discuss the results of that with TL and RJ and make some decision.

I would expect the public poll to go up early next week and run for several days.. I expect after that it will take a week or so to actually get people modded

TL;DR

We need one or two new POG moderators. Nominate yourself, nominate someone else. Discuss the direction of the forum and it's moderation or why so and so should or should not be a mod. Don't be too big of a dick about it.

I'd be willing to do the tedious work involved. I'm basically doing it already with my own new staking group forum. Active in helping RA disputes on my site and notifying ptp and 2+2's abuse threads to protect potential investors. Just like poker, POG has consumed my life and I can't stay away - I've contributed to new and innovative ideas like POG Mole and the WW Turbo series, and just today I'm starting to look into developing a more interactive Turbo stats program

Also I'm very active in evenings when I think most of our mods (euro?) aren't

Otherwise I think my vote has to go to kaze

I'm not sure what the best way to go about this is, but I think all the candidates you listed would be good

In terms of other nominees, I'd like to nominate Nick Royale. His taste in music is so bad I figure he has to be good at something, maybe it's modding <3 But seriously I think he'd be a good choice.

I also think for whoever is potentially interested in modding, they mention it itt or to the current mods or something, don't be afraid to self-nominate! I think willingness to mod would be a pretty key ingredient

Without him there would be hardly any games for those of us who do not want to play 40+ player games.

Seems like a sometimes thankless task, least we could do is give him a green title.

No 25 second rule and undertitles on demand are both pretty sweet.

Mod forum is truly dead and nothing interesting happens there.

I think vix would be an excellent mod but he has no interest in doing it. Obviously Jim/Chips/binkles would all be good but fall into the same "pointless to talk about them" category.

Moocher would be an excellent combo of "I like him, but would actively refuse to feel sorry for him when he hates it."

Kaze looks like a good choice.

Oh, Hurp is another one who doesn't want it. I dunno if I'm revealing privileged information or what, but since it looks like WN already did that in the OP then whatever. He'd be a great choice if he wanted to do it.

And FWIW I would totally back the modding of Hoya. When we were discussing who to sucker into replacing me however long ago, I don't think I bothered stumping for him because I didn't think I could get it through the committee (and truly that was purely an unspoken assumption of mine and isn't me putting words in anyone else's mouth), but I think he'd do a very good job.

He would be good too, though I suspect he wouldn't do it.

Binkles's tappo suggestion is a solid one as well.

I have too many accounts to take modship on just one of them.
