That's it! I watched it again a couple of days ago, and I sort of forgot how good it was.

Favourite line:

"Uuh, what's that smell? Saso, man, that's Saso, used to be Ron!"

The way Pacino delivers that line is great.

Legend, I watched Where the Buffalo Roam last night and what you and amp said is pretty much spot on.

It's funny - on the back of the DVD, they make a point of mentioning how great the soundtrack is and list all the bands that are "in the movie", so I thought maybe the original soundtrack was kept intact.....it wasn't.

I didn't realise companies had to reaquire the rights for songs when they released them on DVD. Is this always the case?

Now they usually secure the rights for all future video releases as part of the contract. It's mostly films from the 70s and early 80s- after movies started using a lot of licensed music but before the studios envisioned the many video formats- that end up having issues. Some good movies still aren't out on DVD solely because of music rights.

California Split, the greatest gambling movie of all time imo, got held up forever because of "Basketball Jones" of all things (the cartoon song plays in the background over a scene). Finally they removed the song and released a really good DVD (with and Altman, Gould, Segal commentary).

Did you like Murray's performance in WTBR?

I thought Murray was great and Boyle was good, but not as good as Murray.

I think it's somewhat of a disadvantage having seen FALILV first because Depp and Del Toro played their parts so well, it's kind of hard to imagine the characters being played by anybody else.

The movie did have it's moments and I'm glad I watched it, but I won't be rushing back to watch it any time soon.
