Boom!

Side question for anyone to chyme in on, since they're both inexplicably exiled from the Miss POG contest: Scarlett or Natalie?

Edit: And btw, just noticed mustmuck's barely tardy entry. Chyme has the floor!

ehh, i'm not crazy about either. I think I'd give the nod to portman if I didn't associate her with the ruination of the star wars movies. but I think of her standing next to Jar Jar Binks and i have to vote scarlett.

You have to give her a pass for the Star Wars thing imo. Every young actress would have killed for that part, she didn't know the movies were going to suck, etc. But actually, while I've had temporary infatuations with each of them, I'm kind of meh about both of them, too. Boleyn Girl was supposed to show us the two best actresses of this generation, but what it really ended up being was a glorified high school costume drama, exposing both of their shallowness.

I still lean towards Natalie, but it's wavering. And alice, I thought she was wicked smaaht too, but you know she was originally slated for the part my [brag]future counsin-in-law[/brag] ended up with in Doubt and had to drop it because she couldn't understand the celibacy aspect of the character? What is that?

Oh, I even thought about this movie when Frenzy came up. What are we, Hitchcock Central all of a sudden?

Just in case somebody's checking in on this thread trying to guss the film, here's another, more iconic, shot:

And I can certainly understand someone not seeing this film, but it won an acting Oscar and was nominated for another. If it's too obscure for you to at least figure out, I don't know what to say.

I didin't see Being There, but that iconic shot looks like a scene from teh simpsons, when moe goes back to his bartending school to meet his mentor. (I'm guessing now that's what they were referencing?)

In keeping with the separation game, I could have gone a hundred different ways with Casino Royale. As much as I would have loved to venture into the French New Wave with Jean-Paul Belmondo, we'll go the more accessible avenue here. Google away!

Yeah that's probably it, chyme. Don't feel bad, though. I consider myself one of the most culturally aware beings on the planet, and The Simpsons manages to sneak a couple references past me every episode. We're still WAY ahead of the curve...
