Sure, why not.

QUESTION 5

The top 30 domestic grossing films of all time, adjusted for inflation.

Spoiler:
I will contend that it is a question, and that it's implied.

Let me stress that this is adjusted for inflation. This means that Jumanji:Welcome to the Jungle is not going to be on the list, even though its gross is good for 29th of all time. Because it was released in 2017, other films that were made 5, 10, or 75 years earlier are going to have a distinct handicap.

excuse the off-topic post...we somewhat urgently need a sub in the box office draft for 2019

if interested, PM me or post in the draft thread

Not so off-topic when you think about it. I'd be interested. Anyone want to go in as teammates?

Never could’ve gotten to 29. Great job.

For this one...say 15.

I am less confident with this category eb

I'd say that between us we'd get at least 16 but how much higher than this we go depends on your confidence. There'd be a lot of educated guesses coming from me and less dead certs

I can make very educated guesses for all 21, but about 10 of them would be 90%ers.

Kinda leaning pass here.

Can Nicholas take my place or join our team or something. I'm kinda worthless here

Let's finish this thing.

I’ll give it a try.

Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Force Awakens
Avatar
Titanic
Gone with the Wind
ET

are all locks.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is close to a lock with inflation and all the re-releases and new screenings, don’t know about the others. Same with Jaws.

I’m guessing there’s a few Disney movies on there...most likely candidates:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Cinderella
The Lion King
Fantasia
Bambi
Pinocchio
101 Dalmatians

Trying to think whether Jurassic Park would be there or not. Leaning toward yes, it made a **** ton of money for 1993. Phantom Menace as well.

Last Jedi, Black Panther and Infinity War might be there, hard to say without a good idea of the $ cutoff.

Trying to think of old movies that made $50-$100 million that might make it by inflation...Sound of Music could be a good bet. Maybe The Godfather. There have to be a couple of others.

Sorry. Had intended to pass officially.
Movie Auction Quote

Now I’m actually thinking the original Avengers might be good, it made nearly as much as Infinity War and would get an inflation bump.
Movie Auction Quote

Oh, and Mary Poppins has to be there.

Older possibilities by decade:

30s: GWTW (lock), Snow White, Wizard of Oz, Fantasia
40s: Bambi, Pinocchio
50s: Cinderella, Ten Commandments
60s: Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Ben-Hur, The Graduate, Butch Cassidy
70s: Godfather, Godfather 2, The Sting, Jaws

Thinking more recently, Jurassic World is one I didn’t think if initially that could be there as well.

Let’s bold some stuff:

Star Wars
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Phantom Menace
Force Awakens
Titanic
Avatar
Gone with the Wind
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Jaws
E.T.
Jurassic Park
Jurassic World
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Lion King
Mary Poppins
Sound of Music
Godfather
Avengers

That’s 19. Going to think about the last one for a bit. Leaning Black Panther, it made a boatload even without adjusting for inflation.

Meh, may as well. Probably in the 31-35 range, but whatever.

Black Panther
