4th for 27 points

Spoiler:
not strictly speaking a harmony, because afaik it's doubletracked, but very nice. Just the right side of limp so that it stays vulnerable but still has enough meat to satisfy

Bah, missed podium. Not doubletracked afaik, the keyboardist sings backing vocals.

Harmony category, song with no harmony finishes 6th.

Seems legit.

I did say I'd be fairly generous with category fits

The podium

bloobird was very close but I hope he'll forgive me when he feels the sheer quality of the winning songs.

3rd for 28 points

Would likely have won but for being the most blatant Hallelujah in walrus history

Spoiler:
Hallelujah in every sense of the word. Incredible harmonies and a belting lead

Not really sure what's so special about that song.

It's pretty decent. Not something I'd listen to again.

I preferred the J Dilla remix of Let's Do It Again.

EDIT: although I can't find it and may have dreamt it

Now that that round is over I can prbobaly safely add that I prefer this version of Mary Don't You Weep - although the Inez Andrews is good.

I have to plead guilty to this one. Obviously it's hard for me to pick songs that I like and MB doesn't necessary (tho' I've had a go through the remainder of this walrus). When I slung the entry together I knew he'd be bound to be a Sam Cooke fan, but I didn't recall how much he enthused at the end of his last one - and didn't know how much he'ld like the Soul Stirrers stuff. However, the writing was on the wall when Mary Don't You Weep did so well in round 1. So - sorry about that everyone - at least it's a top top piece of music and Paul Foster is the lead

Soul Stirrers are obv GOAT and Paul Foster amazing. You probably can't draw the line from love of Sam Cooke to love of gospel per se, to be fair to you, and it's perfectly okay to choose songs from genres I like
