MishMash Interest Check: Potentially June 1 MishMash Interest Check: Potentially June 1

So, I think that it's been a while since we've had an old-school MishMash...like the original ones that stole characters from a wide variety of source materials.

The closest was probably Zurvan's dance battle with three different musicals.

Well, it was recently pointed out to me by a friend that in the decade between 1999 and 2009, Psych, Chuck, and Angel were all supposedly taking place in Los Angeles...as were a few other series and movies. (NCIS LA started in 2009, for example.)

So I'd like to design a game based upon all these varied and remarkable characters from various shows interacting with each other...with events inspired by major motion pictures in LA from the same era. That could look like, for example: Terminator 3, Charlie's Angels, Transformers, The Day After Tomorrow Iron Man, Alvin and the Chipmunks, South Park, and Freaky Friday.

So would anyone actually want to play this madness?

Don't know much if anything about any of the potential sources, but if you're going to go through the effort to design such a thing I'm going to play it.

If you build it, they will come

unless work is super super busy, i would play a VR mash for sure

This will definitely not run on the 17th, sorry. Work and my life have both gotten a little crazy.

I could shoot for the Tuesday after Memorial Day, which would be June 1.

So....I finally have something resembling a roleset. With EIGHTEEN village power roles.

So this game is getting hosted on MU, because...software superiority.

proposed good roles:

Chuck Bartowski: hosts the interset: joat: peek/track/vig/watch/cohort peek: must use all five actions before repeating any, may use 2/4 actions on the same night with only 50/50 odds of success, or may use 1/4 with 100% success; if is still alive when “season 2” starts gets kungfu: one time additional vigilante kill

Sarah Walker: cia agent assigned to Chuck: angel/bodyguard: may choose one player to protect from death or damage every night; in the event Chuck is targeted for death, Sarah will abandon that player and protect Chuck; in the event the wolf team successfully identifies Chuck to the mod’s satisfaction, Sarah will lose her auto-angel of Chuck and instead must actively protect him or she will bodyguard instead of angel; can not active-protect the same player two nights in a row

Ellie Woodcomb: Chuck’s sister: sibling love: mason with Devon Woodcomb: boosts Chuck: may submit the name of a player every day phase; if that player is Chuck Bartowski, they will receive double actions that night
Devon Woodcomb: Chuck’s bro-in-law: decoy/mason with Ellie Woodcomb: peeks as Chuck

Morgan Grimes: Chuck’s best friend: may submit a list of players every night and be told if Chuck is on that list. In the event he narrows the list to one correct name, they will become masons

Bryce Larkin: Chuck’s rival, Bryce’s death triggers Chuck’s kung fu kill; in the event Bryce outlives Chuck, receives any information that Chuck got, and downloads Intersect 2.0

John Casey: cia agent assigned to Chuck: roleblocker/vigilante: may choose one player to role block, jailkeep, or kill every night, may not repeat an action until all actions have been used

Shawn Spencer: fake psychic: reverse seer

Burton “Gus” Guster: Shawn’s best friend and partner: peeks as Shawn

Carlton Lassiter: detective, antagonist of Shawn Spencer: “stakeout”: watcher/tracker:must use both actions before repeating any, in the event of Shawn’s death, may send a one time message to both Gus and Juliet

Juliet O’Hara: knows Shawn’s secret: is given Shawn’s identity at the start of “season 7”

Henry Spencer: Shawn’s dad, fisherman: may submit the name of a player every night to “take fishing” that player will be jailkept

Angel: vampire and head of Angel Investigations: will survive one night kill, may send a prize to a different player every end of day: if that player is ALSO a member of Angel Investigations, they will receive a seer peek that night; if that player is from the Angel TV show, but does not work for AI, they will receive a vig kill, if that player is from Chuck, they will receive a free track; if that player is from Psych, they will receive a free watch

Spike: vampire, antagonist of Angel, NOT a member of Angel Investigations; veteran: will kill anyone who targets him with an action, unless they are angeled or unless they are a member of Angel Investigations

Lorne: demon, NOT a member of Angel Investigations; “hiding in plain sight” will be revealed as a villager day 1 and will not be capable of receiving or performing any night actions unless they are game prizes

Winifred Burkle: genius, human, physicist, member of Angel Investigations, interdimensional traveler: once per game may use her knowledge of the multiverse to “reset” the day phase: players lynched or killed during that day phase will be revived the following day. Power must be used BEFORE the lynch reveal, and the lynch will not reveal the alignment of the lynched player. Prizes won will be forfeited.

Wesley Wyndham-Price: former Watcher, human, member of Angel Investigations, kidnapper of Connor; exec at Wolfram and Hart: “power of the purse”: may buy a vote off of one player and onto another every day before the lynch; as Connor’s kidnapper, he knows where Connor is hidden and will not allow any harm to come to him. Will die in place of Connor in the event Connor is targeted for death in any way, including the village lynch.

Connor: Angel’s son, NOT a member of Angel Investigations; rejects his father’s love and presents and prizes. In the event Angel attempts to send him a prize, Connor will be informed that his dad attempted to send him something, Angel will be informed that his prize was rejected, and the prize will be unusable by either player.

This going to be open then?
11-12-2021 , 10:23 PM
Yes, this is an open roleset.
11-12-2021 , 10:25 PM
Daniel Shaw: former CIA agent obsessed with vengeance on Sarah and Chuck, holder of the intersect: joat: peek/watch/track/vig; if vigs either Chuck or Sarah successfully, gets a bonus vig kill the following night cycle

Nicholas Quinn: former CIA agent who operated private spy firm on behalf of many evil organizations/erased Sarah’s memory: “subversive”: may name a player every day phase: will steal one of that player’s available night actions for the following night phase; in the event he successfully guesses Sarah’s identity, her auto-angel/bodyguard will switch to HIM (this will be announced in thread)

Alexei Volkoff: Original Intersect: will win a prize in any minigame they choose to participate in, due to their extra time and experience with the Intersect

Anna Wu: Morgan’s ex and an all-around awful person: heartbreaker: may target a player every night: that player will lose any night actions to which they are entitled by either role or prize, and will be too depressed to vote or play any minigames the next day

The Mantis: Will peek as villager to Shawn Spencer, “power of the purse”: can exchange any prizes won in minigames for votes to be added to the wagon of his choosing

Mr Yin: serial killer: ‘nuff said

Mr Yang: serial killer’s accomplice: will bodyguard Mr Yin against all kills except the lynch; will commit a revenge kill if Mr. Yang is lynched

The Beast: May “blot out the sun” Once per game, may close the thread immediately and the player leading in votes will be lynched.

Marcus Hamilton: half-demon; attorney for Wolfram and Hart: on odd nights will peek as himself, on even nights will peek as John Casey; wily legal counsel: all votes on him count only ⅔ of a vote.

Sahjan: rewriter of prophecy: can redirect the night action of the player of their choosing: in the event the action is informational, the targeted player will learn that their action was redirected; in the event the action is something other than informational, they will not

Drusilla: Angel’s ex with powers of precognition: will learn the movie that will be featured in the day’s minigame as soon as the thread opens

Neutrals:

Daniel Holtz: Ancient vampire hunter with deep hatred of Angel and deep affection for Angel’s son Connor, who he raised. Is given Connor’s identity at the beginning of the game. Has an odd night kill and an even night angel. Wins if both he and Connor are alive on the morning of day 6.

Allison Crowley
: Mr. Yin’s rogue assistant: serial killer who wins as last man standing; invulnerable to night kill as long as Mr. Yin is alive

Lazlo Manhovski: Nutjob. Suicide bomber. At any point in the game, may blow up himself and the two people who posted before and after him. Wins if he manages to kill exactly one villager and one wolf. Alternate win condition: kills a CIA agent as one of his two kills.

That's reasonable. I'll change it so that he randomly peeks as himself 50 percent and his good counterpart 50 percent.

Thanks.

The joke, of course, is that the same actor played Marcus Hamilton in Angel and John Casey in Chuck.
