A: "First of all, thanks for the support. I was hoping to make it much further but grateful that I had such an amazing opportunity. Regarding your questions: 1) We do receive some coaching and lessons on techniques, for example dough. We are taught a very basic dough and we have to apply that in a random challenge. We don't know when or what it may be. Other times, (like the beef wellington) we simply taste the dish and have to recreate it. All techniques, ratios, styles, and temps are up to the contestant. We don't receive help in that way. The judges are truly trying to find the best home cook in America.
The auditioning process is very long and the team at Masterchef are very careful at ensuring we all have a certain amount of skill sets. A lot of us contestants spent a lot of time reading books as well."

The last half hour was truly a sad halfhour for the show itself...of the hosts deamnding that Tan and David trashtalk each other...and trashtalk they did.

At first I thought it would be awful. Seemed like such a cruel thing to subject kids to: both reality show + the Gordon/Kristina meanies...

but it actually works. The judges already talked down to people but this seems more like a classroom setting now and the judges seem on their best behavior.

And man these kids can cook! They seem better than the adults even.

And I have to laugh because I can picture Nathan fitting in perfectly with this group...and still getting bullied by everyone.

Next season starts end of May. We should do this again.

afaik nothing is released by FOX before hand so we won't know until the show airs.

Last Season was 20, the 2 before that were 22. So I imagine the 20-24 range is a safe bet.

EDIT: Never mind I found the top 40 which does us no good. Doesn't even confirm the number of people as S6 had 40 cut to 22.

yea I feel like episode 1 will just be them going from 40 to 20 or something, and like last year we won't even get a good look at half of the people that go through

If that's the case, one thing we can do is bring in FF as team #6 and don't do ANY drafting until the end of episode 2, when the first official elimination happens. If that leaves us with 18, we can draft 6 teams of 3 and we will have gotten a good look at most of the cooks. If there's any remainder from 18, they will go 'undrafted'

Or we could just step up & draft all 40 based on names, hometowns, jobs & internet stalking.
