Everyone appreciates a song intro. It can hold your interest and excitement for what’s to come or it can completely obliterated a song’s chances of being heard. Some intros are so powerful that five seconds is enough to get a song stuck in one’s head all day.

Below is a video containing 18 popular song intros. It was 20, but WMG objected to my using #19, so I trimmed out the last two songs. Your job is to identify the song and artist of each. Do that better than everyone else who plays, achieve eternal glory. I legit have no frame of reference for how easy or difficult this is. I predict somewhere between multiple perfectos and unmitigated disaster.

I realize that it should be self-evident, but what by what criteria is a song is popular? Is there a range of years or decades the songs are from? If yes, are you willing to divulge said range? If yes, please post said range.

Nothing completely obscure, i.e., generally well-known, charted, featured in films, tons of (US) radio airplay, etc.
