Words that are very close synonyms do not cancel? (Crimson and red, for instance)

What if the target word was grave and I said gravestone? Do I win? Seems like it should work both ways.

If the word is graveyard you can’t use grave as your clue just like in Codenames if graveyard is on the list you can’t clue with grave or yard

2. I wish I knew more about Mitsubishi. I'm guessing it's a car model, although I know Mitsubishi also makes electronics. At any rate the compelling clue here is "hallucinate" and "image" and "illusion" bolster my confidence here. vision

3. Well these two words just have nothing to do with each other. Except for one thing. It's a good thing I'm in my 40's and that I like classic rock so this one's a layup, even though two teammates duplicated "rug" and cancelled each other out. carpet

4. "Filthyvermin" is a really funny, brilliant clue, from someone who knows that I'm in the grab bag draft (which I'm still waiting for rankings and write-ups for, by the way). I probably would have guessed the right answer just from "beheading" and "Antoinette", but this one is another easy one. guillotine

5. I don't get "epidemic". Someone please explain the reference to me after the round is over. But I'm not gonna over-think this. The other 3 clues strongly point to knife. (I also considered "blade" but the "paring" clue steered me to my final answer.)
