In this thread we will play the hottest new social word game.

It’s a cooperative game but we can split it into teams to bring a little more competition to it.


To play the game, everyone but one person is given the secret word for that round. Then everyone submits a 1-word clue to that secret word. The mod removes any duplicate words and posts the unique clues and the one person then guesses the secret word.

If correct, we get a point; if wrong we lose a point; if isn’t sure of the word, they can pass on guessing and get 0 points for us


We do that for 13 words, rotating who is the guesser each time and try to get as close to 13 points as possible.


Now it may turn out that this is too easy for this group, in which case we can modify the rules to make it harder like we did with Codenames.


Example:
Secret Word: Turtle

Clues submitted:
Ninja
Tortoise
Slow
Shell
Tortoise
Ninja

Ninja and tortoise were duplicated so would be thrown out and the guesser would be given the clues:

Slow
Shell

They’d then either guess turtle (1 point) or snail (-1 point) or pass (0 points).

With 5 per team it should be a little tougher since only 4 clues and if people duplicate then it’s worse

We will play 15 rounds so everyone will be the guesser 3 times.

I’ll take actual words from random cards of the game and send them out for every round but when I’m a guesser; by the time it gets to me on round 5 you’ll know how this works enough that someone else on my team can mod my turn.

Basic Logistics:
1. I’ll get 3 random words off of the game cards (1 for each team)
2. I’ll pm the word to everyone on the team who is not the guesser that round
3. Everyone will pm me back their one-word clue (we’ll say Codename clues for rules to make it slightly harder)
4. Once I receive back all 4 clues for a team, I’ll deduplicate and post in the thread the clues for that team
5. The guesser for that team will bold their guess (either the guessed word or “pass”)
6. I’ll reveal if word is correct (1 point), incorrect (-1) point or pass = 0 points

Rinse and repeat


I’ll go down the lists as posted above in post 19 and we’ll just go as fast as everyone can get back to me and the guesser can post their guess; likely 1-2 rounds a day; if no response to pm with clue in 24 hours then I may just post the other clues and your guesser has one less word to help them.

You cannot elect to pass on giving a clue; you must provide something.
