**** it, haven't been clued towards Wake or away from Hood. Wake makes a bit more sense to me in a vacuum but I think it's close.

i clued you 8 and you got 7 of them then they got giant

so i clued you Yahtzee to hit just dice hard so you'd know the 7 words were in your list + giant + dice

so you just had to go down the list


i was hoping after missile was theirs you'd realize things that are war-like (missile, embassy) were not ours, but i was fine with hitting another neutral


then i just did Albany - 0 because state hits hood (statehood) and Bronx/Queens/Manhattan/Brooklyn hits hood

if we needed wake then i would have made sure to hit hood hard with ny so you know we need one more off your list


when in this situation with a long list posted, you cannot bring new words into the fold unless clued for them or i clue you off enough on your list that you need another word

wake can't be a consideration unless you thought you were clued off 2 of the 4 words

If ya don’t mind, in interest of getting better, how would you have approached my first turn? First time doing clues and it was harder than expected.

that's rare it happens, but i didn't love many 3-word clues and missile was really the only blocker and it didn't hit murder that hard (i know war is murder, but you don't go to court under charges of murder for a missile strike)...and it's ok to trade one blue word for getting 7-8 words on a first list

going against an 8 made it tough for you as his list was pretty good

first i would have seen that he didn't have giant or dice on his list, so you know i'll have to clue to those at some point, so going Microsoft which is a giant company could have waited...you want to be sure to avoid anything remotely connected to giant and dice


personally I would have gone defense - 6 since court was off the table then unicorn+mouse for second clue along with makeup to try to win in 2 turns

being blue is really tough because red often wins in 3; so that's why i would swing for the fences when possible as blue

if you think i'm not going to be able to get giant+dice then i may need 4 turns so then you can try to win in 3, just avoiding giant and dice


if his list gets all 6 defense words with only 1 neutral on it, then you can clue animal - unlimited for mouse+unicorn and makeup the rest of the list

the problem with swinging for fences is if your partner has 2 neutral words on his list, then you don't have a way to clue mouse+unicorn AND get him off the bad word, unless it's near the end of the list and you can clue the word(s) after it along with mouse+unicorn, but that's tough

if you want, you can spy again as red so you can have a full 3 turns and do a more normal round

Unicorn and Mouse are a bit tough as long as Buck is on the board. Antler - 0 could get them, even if your teammate hasn't previously identified them as options. It's not too big a leap to reason that you'd want all the animals without antlers

As Nich said, other team leading with an 8 puts you in a real tough position.
