Is discussion allowed itt about general strategy? I.e. "pass if you're in a 'it would be stupid to move' situation"?
i think this could be problematic. let's say I clearly have the best move. there's another move that is like 85% as good. If you are the 85%er, you might be concerned that I won't submit my move, so as backup, you'd submit the 85% move. However, if I posted, 'pass if your move isn't the best' or even more subtly 'pass if youre in a stupid move situation' you know i'll submit my ace move, so you don't need to do yours.

Yeah, I understand.

I think the idea that this is anywhere close to an optimal chest game is something we should forget about. =)

Other idea: for maximum lulz, you could require that all pieces have a move submitted and rand among them.

This seems fun, but total randomness will occur.

But if we try for an optimal game, you will just have to live with people not submtting their moves, just like you have to deal in a ww game with a ****** villager claiming neutral ftlolz. You can modkill non-submitters of course,

Maybe the mod can auto play semiforced or lolobvious moves to speed up the play a bit. After e.g. 1. e4 c5. 2 Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nxd4 the mod just instaplays 5. Qxd4. No need to wait two days for that.

How about force everyone to submit each turn, and the side that gets checkmated first wins.

Game Idea:

- 16 players per side
- Everyone must submit each turn
- 2-4 rogue team members per side who obviously would submit sub-optimal moves
- Once your team has made move and are waiting for other teams action, your team can also vote to assign a piece to team member. Eg. King side knight makes a highly suspicious move, while queen side bishop clearly acting in best interest of team. Can majority vote to assign Kn to Qb.

I still think executing *all* submitted moves is the way to go, but we’ll KISS this time round.

In what order? Would pieces take their own piece if we moved into the same space?

Would be extra lol if so.

Chess pieces don't capture each other. Stop Human Chess Game with this nonsense.

With that being said what's the stance on outright troll moves?

Example: White can castle kingside but the player who has the White King submits Ke2

?

If the player submits a move, I’m not going to double think it.

Likewise if there’s only one decent move & it’s obvious: if someone else submits a move, it’s going into the rand.

  • Everyone gets a major piece and a (random) pawn.
  • Moves must be submitted for all pieces.
  • 24/36 hour for all moves
  • Per team move will be random among submitted valid moves
  • Chat itt will be xxxx?
  • Forced moves will be done by mod once pointed out (i.e. only one legal move available)
  • Other as needed?

Suggested rules:

-Everyone gets 2 random pieces
-Everyone must submit a move for 1 of their pieces
-If one of your pieces has no legal move (let's say a rook) then you may submit "Rook - No Move" if you don't want either of your pieces to move
-24 hours for all moves
-No strat chat of any sort but plenty of commentary/banter in thread

I'm on vacation from Saturday thru Thursday and won't have connectivity.

So drop me, or whatever works depending on the final rules.

How about: everyone gets a piece and its associated pawn.

I would prefer that each player submit one move only.
Edit: or no move.

The rest seems good.

I an in no way tied to my rules. Just figured that I'd throw stuff out there to help keep this moving.

I’m reasonably happy to run it any way. If everyone was obliged to submit a move, I’d have to have a time limit after which I pick a move at random for the non submitters, or we’d never get past move 2. I’m a bit wary of that as it requires me to accurately identify all the possible moves. I’m bound to **** that up.
