There is a small mish-mash I will try to run in about a month (Nov 5 sounds like the most likely starting date right now).

If you’re only interested in majors, I do have some ideas for HP8, but I am unsure whether I can do this alone. If there is anyone serious about helping me (I am talking about both designing and co-modding) contact me, but only if you are ready to do work.

At any rate, if I do run HP8, it won’t happen before December.

One thing have learned with HP games is to keep it simple for the players- They should not be bothered with advanced puzzles. I made that error in HP4 and HP6. HP7 was perfect, though.

300+ characters. Ought to be enough. Make sure you don't prohibit character claiming. You have enough characters to give a list to the wolves for fake claiming.

We’re off to a terrible start but I can sure that we will be able to make this thing work

Just make the hardcore characters PR's that are -EV to claim (Harry, Hermione, Ron, Snape, Dumbledore). All the others are expendable really.

Banning character claims and anti claiming mechanisms are generally AIDS.
