Played Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization the other day (the old one ranked 12th on bgg, not the new one ranked 2nd)

Good game, has a lot of mechanics in it that I've seen individually in a variety of other games

There is now a computer release of Mysterium. Would totally be down for picking this up and playing. It's $10 and another $3 for the expansion on steam.

I got it on iOS; it has online and I've confirmed it IS cross platform so iOS/android/steam players can all play together

So if you pick it up on any platform, let us know here and we can arrange a POG game of it

The new version is simply, imo, the best game made. Definitely my favorite.

Of late, Tramways (65% Age of Steam, 35% Small City) is hitting the table a lot as is High Treason: The Trial of Louis Riel. Awesome 2p game pitting the defense vs the prosecution of the supposed leader of the Métis in the 19th Century.

Big money beats most random strategies. It gets owned by most good strategies

Grunching but only just spotted this thread. I'm big into board (and tabletop/card) games. Is it okay to post about stuff like zombicide, munchkin and so on?

I also paint miniatures of these, is it OK to post pics?

In, is it real-time or more turn-based?

As a huge fan of the xcom video games, I realized lately there is a board game and I haven't played it yet. Anybody here have any thoughts or experiences, either solo or in a group?

I'd recommend SU&SD's (Shut Up & Sit Down) review of XCOM The Board Game.

https://www.shutupandsitdown.com/vid...om-board-game/

For those that don't know they are a cheeky witty group of Brits who took to reviewing board games. Their site has grown quite a lot and they have a lot of great video reviews.

Played Concordia for the first time on Wednesday with 4. Played again on Thursday with 2. What a great game. Loved it at both player counts. Manages to have a large enough state space to be strategically interesting while keeping individual turns quite short so the game moves along briskly. I anticipate buying all the maps and the salsa expansion at some point.

While not directly comparable it reminded me of the other mac gerdts game I've played, Imperial, in that it had a ton of depth with sufficiently finite actions to keep turns short where the main tactical decision is to do the thing you need now or wait a couple of turns because you can do it better/more efficiently after some intermediate actions. Has anyone played any of his other games? If they have this in common I will have to try them at some point.

Yeah, Concordia is a good game; I don't think I've played his others, though

And nice painting, diebitter; I've never painted miniatures but maybe some day

Never played Concordia. Only Mac Gerdts game I've played is Imperial 2030. Only played it once a long time ago. I remember liking it.

Had my highest RFTG score just now. Felt a little bad because I could have ended it one turn sooner, but it's not every day you get a shot at triple digits.

Would Pandemic be a playable game in the forum?

I can mod it through the app and post screenshots.

I have played hundreds of games @ Legendary difficulty (5 player games), so I could review the play as well.

Basic game with or without the On the brink expansion. On the Brink brings more roles, but they are all weaker than the original roleset. But some of the OTB action cards are pretty sick, with Commercial Travel Ban being really OP even.
