I'm picking the screenplay runner up as Hell or High Water
This has potential for another categories but I'm picking it here.
This movie is incredible. It's got everything you want from a western and everything you want from a movie set in the modern day. Great story, acting, scenery as well as runner up worthy screen play.
The scene with the car chase and machine gun is excellent.
"What don't you want?"
The film has action, drama, tension and humour.
See it now if you haven't already
Was looking to take this myself...wasn't expecting it to go this early.
Been a long day and don't have time to do a write up right now. Don't want to hold things up. I'll do the write up tomorrow.
I take Saving Private Ryan for opening scene.
While we anxiously await for eb to post his write-up yesterday, let’s hear what noted film critic Peter K. Rosenthal has to say about this “iconic opening scene, which forever redefined the scope and ambitions of the war film genre.”
Here’s the full uninterrupted scene, which will enable you to experience the gripping, harrowing realism.
Saw this one in one of them thar "adult" theatres more than 50 years ago.
Now, the trenchcoat crowd takes their movies very seriously and they always sit in stony silence but Russ had 'em laughing out loud to Mudhoney.
And Princess Livingston won Best Supporting Actress for this one (well, I think so, if not she was ROBBED!).
great characters. first movie to ever have criminals having mundane conversations... like just arguing about tips, totally mundane, but a captivating scene just cuz of the characters, setting, acting, and writing.
and gotta love any movie where a cop gets tortured acab
