iirc we had a spot like this before and decided lotr was one movie... it was all shot at the same time. it's one story. it was just released as three movies cuz 12 hours is a little long

I always consider it one, as I do any trilogy that was pre-planned and thought out (not just added in after first was a success)

they filmed all 3 movies simultaneously in one big go, not years apart like some sequels and trilogies


I'm fine with the rule being 'pick one movie' so not grouping them; it's a simpler way to run the draft and not have to worry about edge cases, but to me they are one long movie and I'm also fine with grouping them

I'll never watch one without watching all 3 together within the same 1 day to 1 week period; they aren't stand alone

is it possible that draft entries can use a youtube link, even if it's not the scene just a preview, would be easier to parse between chatter and actual picks - i thought we were still on pick 1 with fercn

also, am i allowed to pick cats in any order or so i need to follow a specific playlist?

You can pick the categories in any order. You want to be a little bit strategic with the order in which you pick. For instance, if it's a category where you feel like you have 5 or 6 movies in mind that are all great picks, you probably want to hold off and pick a different category, knowing that one of your movies will still be there for you in a later round. On the other hand if you have a clear #1 in mind for a category and you think there's a dropoff once that movie is taken, you'll want to grab that movie asap.

As for youtube links, that's encouraged. Same with screenshots, and a brief (or long) explanation of why your pick is awesome.

i picked this for my first overall pick just because it's so iconic. it's THE fantasy movie. not even close imo.

the books are legendary, and these movies are far and away the best book to screen translation ever.

gollum alone!

and the attention to detail, and the passion behind the story telling.

all the awards it won, and fantasy movies don't win awards. and it could have easily won more awards! andy sirkus(gollum) for best supporting actor for one. and the box office.. and these were 4 hour movies!!! people still went out to see them in droves.

these movies are 20 years old and still hold up. and they'll likely hold up forever because the story, adventure, characters.. and the dedication and talent in the films are timeless
