I think that last three categories are great. Wish I thought of them.

If this were a TV show draft, I have my slam dunk answer: ALF

Loved this as a kid. Watched an episode in college on TV Land or whatever and it was one of the worst things I've ever seen.

I'll be judging it based on how much I liked it compared to the winner of that particular year.

Looking at the list, I've seen all of the winners and all but 3 of the losers. It looks like the 3 I haven't seen are all streaming somewhere, so I'll give them a watch if one or more of those get drafted.

I would say at least 95% of shows pre-2000ish wouldn't hold up today. TV was mostly hot garbage in those days, but options were limited. What 80s show would anybody actually choose to watch now?

Early Simpsons, but only first season is 80s so doesn’t really count

90s has some watchable stuff, but yeah most of the good stuff is post 2000 and it’s tough thinking of 70s/80s stuff that’s still good

I don't count Simpsons or Seinfeld as 80s shows, even though they technically came out in 89.

damn, I liked the 'best movie year' category

someone else should join and do it, or we should just add it as another category that we draft since we don't draft our own anyway...that way if 10 people we'll each draft 10 categories

chuck can then judge the category if he wants or someone else can judge it

in for real so far:
ferenc - Roger Corman's (directed by) best movie
aaron - Best Movie Couple that aren't Rick and Ilsa
xander - Best movie with an IMDb rating of 6.5 or Lower
zurvan - Best Disney or Pixar animated film
Zeus - Best Fantasy Movie
Filthy - Best Villain
eye - best Original Screenplay Runner-Up since 2013
nich - best Heist Movie
rickroll - best movie from the past that doesn't hold up today
d1 - best movie opening scene

free category for someone to claim and enter draft, or just volunteer to judge - best movie year

Regarding the best movie year, 2 important items of note.

1. Three or four great movies will carry more weight than a dozen good movies.

2. If you just draft a year and don't include a decent write-up you won't score well, no matter how amazing your pick is.

Looks like we're ready to go, just need to rand the draft order and start.

yeah, 11 players with 11 categories, so 10 rounds as everyone drafts every category but their own

you can draft from whichever category you want each time (only once per draft, of course) and there are no dupes allowed draft-wide, so if someone chooses something for one category, you can't take the same for another...for simplicity let's just say if exact matching pick then can't take it, so no taking the remake of a movie already taken if it's the exact same title (and no taking 1941 the movie if 1941 the year was drafted)...but if the remake has a slightly different title, or a movie has a year plus some words in it, like 10,000 BC then you can take it even if 10,000 was already taken for movie year because they aren't an exact match

Since nobody wants to make a draft order, I'll do it. Maybe we can get a few picks in before the weekend. For simplicity's sake, I'll set it up in alphabetical order by our names. There are 11 of us, so I'll sit out the rand. I'm late to the party and didn't come up with my own category, so I'm ineligible for the 1st overall pick. But wherever aaron lands in the rand, I'll pick after him. And I assume we go in snake draft order.

0 aaron
1 d1
2 eye
3 ferenc
4 filthy
5 nich
6 rick
7 xander
8 zeus
9 zurvan

Based on the last digit of this post...
