Luckily I keep track of my rating and the IMDB rating for every movie I see on a spreadsheet.
So, it only took a few seconds to determine that Mudhoney was the best movie I've seen with a rating of 6.5 or less.

And the other nominees were:

Robert Montgomery directed this one POV style. He also starred but the only time you see him is when he looks in a mirror.

Russ Meyer's companion piece to Mudhoney. Almost as good.

Vince Edwards thinks he's stolen a canister of heroin. However, he keeps getting sicker and sicker and...

Okay let's rank these screenplays.

10th place - The Shape of Water - Sorry, this movie was dumb as ****. Honestly, the screenplay was the only part of the movie I didn't like. The directing, score, acting, effects were all between acceptable to elite. But as you might have guessed, I'm a sucker for a good story, and this wasn't it at all. Complete nonsense from start to finish. I was not happy to see this win Best Picture, but at least it had the decency to do it in an awful year for Best Picture nominees.

9th place - The Banshees of Inisherin - The next three are basically a 3-way tie, which I'll break by how good or bad the competition and winner was. This got nearly universal acclaim and I just don't get it. It was a mediocre short story that was stretched out into a 2-hour movie that meant nothing. At least you didn't pick The Fablemans from that year.

8th place - Don't Look Up - A cool idea from a writer that I've liked before should have been a recipe for a great movie. But this was the most heavy-handed, smug thing I've seen in quite some time. Christ. You're not helping.

7th place - Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri - I wanted to like this more than I did, but found it to be an illogical mess. I pretty much lost all hope for the movie after the dude went out the window. It didn't improve after that. Interesting that 2 of the bottom 4 were from 2018. Wrong choices people. If you're going to go with that year, Lady Bird was by far the best choice.

6th place - Once Upon A Time In Hollywood - The biggest quality jump is here, as I enjoyed everything from here on out. In the bottom half of Tarantino's catalogue, but the bar is pretty high to get above that. Fun movie, never boring. I'd hesitate to call it anything above "pretty good", which wasn't enough in a stacked year for nominees.

5th place - The Grand Budapest Hotel - Just delightfully bananas. A little choppy at parts, so I can't put it any higher than this considering how strong the competition is at this level.

4th place - Nebraska - A refreshing kind of road trip movie with a cranky old man. If I were grading this one against my expectations going into it, it would win easily.

3rd place - Ex Machina - Sci-fi goes bad is a bit overdone, but I loved this movie. Thought provoking and fun the entire time. Got a little predictable in parts, but that's only a minor complaint.

2nd place - Hell or High Water - Heist movies are not usually my genre, but a great story is a great story. I also liked the strategy of taking this early and preventing anyone taking it in that category.

1st place - Judas and the Black Messiah - I still can't believe this movie got made by a major studio with high profile actors. Filthy, I understand your aversion to watching it, but you should really try.

not a spoiler....

i think the most moving part of judas and the black messiah was just the clip of the interview with the real guy. no acting. no script. just the guy talking. but of course the whole movie lays the foundation for watching this guy talk

evil! great hair! part of the fun of this character is how much he enjoys being evil, but also it's kind of a grind at the same time... like "ugh... gotta kill again. sigh.. but maybe i can try to spice it up a little... maybe it'll try some really bizarre weapon, or make a guy flip a coin"

good times!

7th place: lee marvin in the killers, 890 rating

i can't give this a fully fair rating cuz i never saw the movie. but i think i got a pretty good idea from the clips i could find. really fun performance and character! i love how he is calm and still, and then just explodes in violence lol. he has the classic freedom of a villain. laws and social norms don't apply. he just does whatever he wants. i also like how doesn't look like a classic villain. he looks like a boring white guy, suit and tie, haircut, etc

icily evil. no feeling. or is there? hal wants to kill kill kill, as only a computer/robot could. no remorse. just flawed logic. also pretty funny performance. always great when a villain can throw in some humor or fun

probably the most hated villain for me. ****ing so ****ing evil in such a mundane way. amazing performance. every time she's on screen you just want to jump in the screen and murder her!

10th place: darth vader, 800 rating

iconic. all black. heavy breathing. faceless. very powerful.. and representing usa in vietnam! bonus evil! but i think the simplicity of the character and the story, and the fact that you can't see his face, or even hear his voice clearly detracts from him being truly great. for me. obv he is iconic, maybe even the most iconic villain.

and someone has to be last!

but he is a great character, and great voice work from james earl jones

1st place: amon goth(shindler's list), 960 rating

for me personally i was blown away by his performance, but i know it's kind of silly to rank him so highly. but i thought his performance was just incredible. one of the most amazing performances i've ever seen. it must have been so difficult to be so evil, playing a real character! that really happened! and not that long ago, and performing with jews who are still facing racism... kinda similar to being a slave master, performing with black people.... the character is whatever... for me this was just all about the performance. i mean obv the character is evil af lol, but not incredibly compelling, like say a hannibal lecter is

also, this isn't fantasy. this is real ****. nazis really did those mind blowingly evil things. and even though nazis were in the 30s and 40s, we still face the same evil today

ROGER CORMAN DIRECTS

#10 - Deathsport Not really a Roger Corman directed film. He fired the original director and called on Allan Arkush to finish it. He must have did a bit of work to get the film back on schedule as IMDB has him as one of the 3 directors but he didn't give himself a screen credit. And no wonder! I hadn't seen this one so I started to watch it but I just could not finish it. What a bunch of crap!

#9 -The Raven It's a toss up between this and Haunted Palace. Do you like hocus pocus (The Raven) or mumbo jumbo (Haunted Palace). The Raven has a thick flow of comedy poured over top. Is it funny? Well, not really. OK, The Raven gets #9.

#8 - Haunted Palace Just a bunch of mumbo jumbo but at least they didn't try to be funny.

#7 - The Pit And The Pendulum No, I never did like Corman's Edgar Allan Poe movies. I rewatched this one, Haunted Palace & The Raven just to give them a 2nd chance. I still have no interest in the goings on in medieval castles.

#6 - The Masque Of The Red Death I remember this one was a notch above the other Edgar Allan Poes when I first saw it eons ago. No need to change my mind now.

#5 = The Little Shop Of Horrors For a movie made over just one weekend, it's quite OK. Maybe it's the comedy. It might be my fault for not having a sense of humour?

#4 -X - The Man With The X-Ray Eyes I rated this the same as Bucket Of Blood. Quite an enjoyable movie but Bucket Of Blood actually made me feel queasy so it gets the nod for #3.

#3- Bucket Of Blood Yes, this cheapie actually made me feel queasy while watching it. That's high praise.

#2- The Trip This one's a hoot. Screenplay be Jack "Head" Nicholson. Who says I don't like comedies.
My favourite scene (even at the wrong aspect ratio):

#1- The Intruder Roger claims this is his only movie that lost money. He quickly learned not to make serious movies.
I thought I'd hate it because: William Shatner. But, Shatner is very good here. Screenplay by Charles "Twilight Zone" Beaumont. Too bad he didn't make more like this. Not just my favourite Corman of these 10 - my favourite of all I've seen (about 30).

Disney/Pixar animated features

This is a deep category, and there's really no bad picks on here (OK, 1 bad pick). Nobody drafted 3 of my top 4, which seems crazy, but maybe appropriate for the crowd. I'm going to do this from #1 to #10, because I want to.

Finding Nemo - It's funny, the animation is great, and it has some classic supporting characters (Bruce the shark, the seagulls, the turtles). One of the few movies in the category I'll watch on my own, without the kids
The Lion King - I love this era of Disney movies. I prefer the hand drawn animation style and the story is excellent.
Toy Story 3 - One of the things I love about the Pixar movies in particular is how they tell a story for the kids and a different story for the parents. I thought Toy Story 3 did that really well, maybe better than any of their others.
Inside Out - A bit more of an openly grown up story, but still something there for the kids.
Monsters Inc - My son loved this movie, we used to watch it together constantly. John Goodman & Billy Crystal are so good
Toy Story - A great movie, and absolutely changed the movie business
Aladdin - Meh. Robin Williams is obviously hilarious, but besides him this movie never really hit for me. The one exception to loving this eras movies
Snow White & The Seven Dwarves - The classics got a lot of play in this house, including this one. Also completely innovative for its time.
Wall-E - This movie never hit for me. I don't get the love for it
The Incredibles - Just a dull movie. Uninteresting characters, didn't care about them in the least.

Honourable Mention - My favourite movies you didn't mention
Beauty & The Beast
Tangled
Frozen

BEST OPENING SCENES

10.
Spoiler:
Lord of War - I feel kind of bad ranking this so low, because I do really like it a lot. The problem I'm having is that I consider it more of an "opening title sequence" rather than an actual "opening scene", if that makes sense. This would score very well in the other category!

9.
Spoiler:
Touch of Evil - Technically well done, especially for the time period, but does it draw me in and make me want to watch the movie? Not really. Even though we know there's a bomb in the car, I never feel any real tension here. Between the music choice and the cringey dialogue, the scene just feels corny to me.

8.
Spoiler:
The Nightmare Before Christmas - Ok so I pretty much detest musicals. This is clearly a very well-crafted scene, and the animation is great, but the song just annoys me. Perhaps I'm being too harsh, but there ya go.

7.
Spoiler:
2001: A Space Odyssey - Everybody knows this scene. It is one of (if not the) most iconic opening scenes of all time, and has been parodied to death. But watching a bunch of apes fart around in the dirt for 10 minutes just doesn't really do it for me, sorry. Fantastic use of music tho.

6.
Spoiler:
Back to the Future - I've never really thought of this scene as being particularly memorable in any way, but it admittedly does do a great job of setting up the rest of the film. I dunno, I've just never been a big BttF fan, so it's hard for me to get too excited about it.

5.
Spoiler:
Saving Private Ryan - I had trouble ranking this because the scene itself would definitely win this category, but I just can't get past the fact that it's not technically the first scene of the movie. Putting it either first or last feels slightly unfair, so I'm plonking it here. I realise that might feel like a cop out, and it is, but shrug.

4.
Spoiler:
The Matrix - Very good opening. We don't really know what's going on or who these people are, but we definitely want to see where this is going. This was also the birth of what we now know as 'bullet time'. I still remember seeing this in the theater as a teenager and being blown away.

3.
Spoiler:
Drive - Just before we started this draft, I happened to rewatch this movie. I saw it when it first came out and didn't remember being too impressed by it, but this time around, I loved it. The opening scene really hooked me, and was also the catalyst for me choosing this category for the draft.

2.
Spoiler:
Inglourious Basterds - We get treated to Tarantino's trademark great dialogue, and a creeping sense of tension for what's about to come. Christoph Waltz goes from charming to terrifying in the blink of an eye in what is a truly great performance. And let's not forget that hilariously oversized pipe!

1.
Spoiler:
Raiders of the Lost Ark - Great scene. We've never met Indy before, and we're just thrown right in the middle of one of his adventures. By the end of the scene, we know exactly who this guy is and what this movie is gonna be - a damn fun ride.
