I know jack about wrestling (You've seen my PEEHS performance)

I could only think of Royal Rumble but I thought I'd google it to check if there was anything dominant.

Battle Royal was suggested as the best and when I read the description I thought it was the new name for Royal Rumble. I picked it and was satisfied until TN drafted Royal Rumble :/

So, I've already posted in thread what types of misses would have scored high with me, and I think you may see that in my scoring here.

Some others who would have scored highly,

God - from Godfellas. This entire scene is amazing.

Seymour. You heartless bastards.

The Simple country Hyper-Chicken Lawyer.

"I'm sorry, I thought you was corn."

Weeeeeeeeeernnnnstrommmm.

In conclusion, if you haven't, or haven't recently, watched Futurama, go do it now.

On to the list!

10.
Spoiler:
Abner Doubledeal - I watched a few of his episodes this weekend, and while he was better than the absolute zero recollection I had of him when first hearing the name, he is still little more than a corrupt sports promoter, and not very interesting or funny.

9.
Spoiler:
Al Gore's head - Of all the possible available heads in jars, Al's is unfortunately the least interesting. That's not to say he's bad. And I'm appreciative of the fact that the real Al Gore is a huge Futurama fan, but the writers have just done a better job with former heads of state's heads in jars.

Those were my clear bottom 2. Next is a whole bunch that have had jostling positions.

8.
Spoiler:
Scruffy - Scruffy is great. Let's get that clear right at the top. My main problem with Scruffy is that his greatness is one-dimensional. Do I laugh at his one dimension? Pretty much every time, but I like a little variety in my recurring characters.

7.
Spoiler:
Hypnotoad - I'm sorry oh great Hypnotoad. You suffer the same fate as Scruffy for the same reasons. All hail the Hypnotoad.

6.
Spoiler:
Morbo the News Monster - I'll be honest, you know who scores higher than Morbo? Linda. Are Morbo's insane threats to his newswatching public hilarious? They sure are, but even better are Linda's vapid, news team co-anchor laughing fits at his outbursts. Regardless, Morbo is awesome, and this puny human ranks him number 6

5.
Spoiler:
Nibbler - I feel bad placing Nibbler so low, because I am a sucker for Lore, and aside from Fry, he is the most important character in the Futurama universe. He's the inciting action for everything that happens from moment 1. He's just - not all that funny. He actually does the opposite of what most characters do, and improves as his story gets more fleshed out and he gets greater agency to speak, but he's almost entirely used for exposition. A great, important character that could stand to have a bit more humor added.

4.
Spoiler:
Calculon - The star of All My Circuits, the robot built for... ACTING. I don't have a ton to say. Ill let the clips do the talking.

3.
Spoiler:
The Robot Devil - The robot hell song has already posted, and is one of the best 2 minutes ever on the show. Aside from one episode, Robot Devil is voiced by Homer Simpson, Dan Castellaneta, and he is fantastic in the role.

Every line makes me laugh, and thats all you can ask for in a show like this. He's also the main villain in my favorite episode - The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings. This next clip is longer, but the music is fantastic.

2.
Spoiler:
The Globetrotters - We covered this earlier in the thread, but holy crap these guys are funny. Also, behind Nibbler, they are, surprisingly, the most important members of the Futurama Universe. Why? They discovered the solution to the chronoton problem in Time Keeps on Slippin, which would have resulted in the end of the Universe in 3 days time. They were also the driving force behind discovering an actual, real life, mathematical theorem. https://theinfosphere.org/Futurama_theorem. The Globetrotters are the absolute perfection of what a side character should be and are a clear number 1 choice.

1.
Spoiler:
Zapp Brannigan - Oh wait, did I say The Globetrotters were number 1? Well, they would be, if not for Earth's greatest hero. While I was making this list, I almost knocked Zapp down a peg or two for something completely beyond his control. Because not only is Zapp an amazing character... he had the ability to be EVEN BETTER. Alas, that was taken from all of us by an evil, psychotic woman when she murdered Zapp's originally proposed voice actor, Phil Hartman. But I don't want this to be a bummer of an entry. Billy West is a more than capable replacement, and voices Zapp to perfection, making him a combination of three 50's-70's radio announcers. If you've never heard him explain where he gets the Zapp voice, it's incredible. Skip to 4:17 of this video for explanation (or listen to the whole thing, because Billy West is the man)

Anyway, enjoy. My number 1 Futurama side character.

Oh and on one final note. Since 2016, Billy West has been doing various Trump quotes in the voice of Brannigan.

Its fantastic, as expected.

here comes the big regret

I had Hedonism Bot in the gun, ready to fire but then holstered it and fired the Calculon gun because of the picks of others

He's such a great pick because he's not Hedonist Bot, he's Hedonism Bot

Subtle but important difference that I hope I don't regret

Top undrafted: Nixon’s head, would have ranked this #2.
Also quick note that it’s definitely been too long since I last watched Futurama...

1)
Spoiler:
Zapp Brannigan - Obvious #1 for me, consistently funny character that shows up a lot. )

2)
Spoiler:
Calculon - Less funny, shows up less but still pretty good.

3)
Spoiler:
Beelzebot - Also pretty good.

4)
Spoiler:
Morbo the News Monster - He’s hilarious when he shows up.

5)
Spoiler:
Harlem Globetrotters - The idea of the Globetrotters being top scientists is pretty funny and they deliver.

6)
Spoiler:
Abner Doubledeal - Don’t really remember him tbh but I think he was funny when he showed up.

7)
Spoiler:
Scruffy - Good for a slight laugh when he has one of his quick showings.

8)
Spoiler:
Nibbler - Might be important storywise but for me he’s basically an I eat lots of things one trick pony, more likely to make me roll my eyes than laugh when he suddenly starts speaking eloquently.

9)
Spoiler:
Al Gore's Head - I don’t remember anything he did.

10)
Spoiler:
Hypnotoad - This is barely even a character.

Zapp is a worthy number 1

but pfft on #2

I figured that since you let him draft multiple characters then it clearly wouldn't do well.

Also it's actually a computer from Godfellas and not God. Also Malachi's son is a better character from that episode

And you call yourself a fan...

Morbo: Morbo can't understand his teleprompter because he forgot how you say that letter that's shaped like a man wearing a hat.

Always great for a quick laugh

Primary Judge – DWetzel

So, for this category, I probably did a not-great job of laying out exactly what I was looking for. The ideal entry for this category for me would have had a combination of either athletic 'wow' factor, or exceptional humor (or failing that, other emotion). And it would have been something I haven't seen before -- which was in short supply. Because historical importance didn't matter, the field was wide open for someone to dig deep and find something truly hilarious. I'm kind of sad that didn't happen. That said, there were some fairly strong albeit "classic" entries here, and those will score well. Others... not so much. I'm awarding a few mental bonus pips for the few things that I was introduced to to the first time (basically, that's you soccer people).

I think the first-place entry in this category among all things ever would have been: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHkABO0VwCg -- well known enough in some circles, but obviously not a historic moment or anything. For those of you that haven't seen it, enjoy. ESPN actually made a 30 for 30 short about this event that was pretty fun.

For funsies, I'll throw in a similar highlight to each of these for your enjoyment.

So, without further ado, and an Arbitrary and Capricious scoring warning:

10th place:
Spoiler:
Paul Hamm high bar (SuqAta8). Hmm, I'm not sure how I feel about this one; I'm ill-equipped to judge the athleticism on this one. It feels like a fairly ordinary (though well executed) routine, and the historical significance is all of what elevates it to being important. Comparison: uh, well, I dunno. Here's Mary Lou Retton doing stuff. This doesn't move me either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sya66z4mCiA

9th place:
Spoiler:
Benjamin Massing Tries to Kill a Guy (Bloobird). Really, I'm not at all impressed, and not sure what I'm supposed to be enjoying about this. All of the unpleasantness of Tyson-Holyfield, with none of the charm. Frankly, this ought to be last, but I'm sneaking you a spot because that writeup was worth it. I appreciate the effort. Comparison: If you enjoy watching soccer players try to injure each other, this is the way you should have gone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E1fMx7jgxQ

8th place:
Spoiler:
The Kick Six (chuckleslovakian). This one absolutely gets killed by the unimportance of historical significance. At its heart, it's a kick return touchdown, without any spectacular athleticism or unusualness to it EXCEPT for the historical significance. Similar things happen quite often, and therefore I can't rate this very highly at all. Cliff notes: needs more tuba. Comparison: you should have tried pandering to the judge with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYjjPIsMDlU instead.

7th place:
Spoiler:
Odell Beckham Jr (eyebooger). A spectacular individual effort, sure; it pales in comparison to say the Zlatan kick though, and suffers a bit in that I've seen it a zillion times. At its heart, it's a very excellent one-handed catch, which aren't exactly a dime a dozen but there's plenty of similar ones out there. Comparison: Yo dawg I heard you like spectacular catches, so I gave you a video of a bunch of specatcular catches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoM2loLSvbE Bonus comparison for people doing similar things, only they're literally insane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BAaCBC1V1Q

6th place:
Spoiler:
Tyson Bites Holyfield (master3004). For pure shock value, this obviously ranks quite a bit higher, but this loses a few points for having so little to do with the sport, and a few more for just being generally unpleasant. Still, shock value is worth something, so here, have sixth place. Comparison: I could go with any number of weird "players injuring other players" or "boxers being asses" here, but I think instead I'll go with the second most bizarre thing involving a heavyweight boxing title fight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKoAlpWD_Lg

5th place:
Spoiler:
Ayrton Senna, Humanitarian (e_holle): I honestly wasn't sure where to put this one; I finally decided it deserves a decent place. It's a reminder that no matter how important sports are (and we take them way too seriously), it's important to remember their proper place. Comparison: nothing immediately came to mind, so let's go with a famous contrasting case where things got... well, let's just say that lesson wasn't fully learned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mucSyo9yLLQ

4th place:
Spoiler:
Zlatan's bicycle kick (BMF/derwipok). Hadn't seen this one before; I'm duly impressed, both by the skill to pull it off, and by the audacity to even think to try such a thing in the first place. A great individual highlight. Comparison: Yeah, so there's a fair number of really cool soccer goals, but I found myself asking "well how hard is that really" and came across this (warning: Not Safe For After Lunch) -- https://www.si.com/soccer/2018/04/10...stiano-ronaldo

3rd place:
Spoiler:
Randy Johnson Hits Bird (JMurder3). I mean, it's a cheap laugh, but it's a really really good cheap laugh, and I'm always in favor of those. Comparison: hmm... let's go with a seagull getting revenge, albeit in another sport: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zr8JwKaXONA

2nd place:
Spoiler:
Steven Bradbury (rtspurs). If you were trying to pander to the judge here (because I'm sure I've talked about this in multiple other places)... congratulations, it worked. I aboslutely love everything about this; a overmatched competitor using the last skill he has left -- his wits -- to try for a miracle that comes in. Plus there's people sliding on their asses and crashing into things. I approve. Comparison: nothing from speed skating. For overmatched veteran doing his thing against the odds, I'll give you some classic Vin Scully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4nwMDZYXTI

1st place:
Spoiler:
The Play (Carl_Spackler). This is a well known classic, but it's a well-known classic for a very good reason -- it's both bizarre and utterly hilarous, complete with the punch line at the end. This gets a few bonus points for the announcer absolutely losing his **** (as he should); a great highlight is only enhanced by great announcing. Comparison: The highlight linked above, or (similar, but with less tuba) Trinity vs. Millsap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7oF4ZDigjM

Wow Polar bear ranked that low - guess all it took was one Walrus fight video, compared to the 100,000+ of it owning a Walrus.

Poor choice from me I guess, being ranked top 5 most deadliest isn't enough, should have picked something with smaller arms

Yes I do eat a lot of lemons hence the bitterness (Great reveal though JM)
