Here is where I mention all of the awesome apex predators you didn't pick...

To be honest, you guys got the top ones I think.

Some undrafted would have done well in certain aspects but would have fallen down in other areas (Megalodon, African wild dog, wolf, Arcticknight's old lady, jaguar, etc.)

I ranked these apex predators in 7 different areas. Then I combined the rankings to give a total score.

Here is the breakdown for each area:

Hunting success

How good are these guys at catching their prey?

RankPredatorHunting success
1Killer WhaleAs successful as they want to be from what I can tell
2Saltwater CrocodileCouldn't find any data for this but they can survive up to 3 years without eating so they don't really care
3Komodo Dragon90% successful for smaller animals like deer and pigs, but much less successful killing larger prey like water buffalo.
4Great White SharkSomewhere between 40-80% depending who you believe
5Peregrine Falcon47% "perch to perch"
6Lion17-30% depending on whether alone or as a group
7Golden Eagle20%
8Polar Bear10%
9Tiger5-10% (Siberian tiger between 38-54%)
10T-RexThere is some debate if the T-Rex was even a true predator or more of a scavenger. It was not well equipped to catch fast and nimble prey.

Longevity

How long has this species been a successful predator?

RankPredatorLongevity
1Great White SharkAt least 16 million years
2Killer Whale~10 million years ago diverged from other oceanic dolphins
3Saltwater CrocodileSpecies diverged between 6-12 million years ago
4Peregrine Falcon5-8 million years ago they diverged from other falcons
5Golden EagleCan't find an estimate for golden eagles but eagle-like birds have been around at least 12 million years. I'm going to estimate golden eagles diverged 5 million years ago.
6Komodo Dragon4 million years ago diverged from other beasts
7Lion2.1 million years ago diverged from snow leopard
8Tiger1.8 million years
9T-RexProbably lasted a couple of million years but is the only predator on this list with a definite end-date so has to rank low
10Polar Bear400,000 years ago diverged from brown bears

Pound for pound

Who would win in a fight?

RankPredatorPound for pound
1T-RexCould have weighed up to 14,000kg. Was by far the largest carnivore in its environment so was probably a real Billy Big Balls. Most powerful bite of any land animal ever.
2Killer WhaleCan weigh up to 10,000kg! Beats up and eats sharks and whales for fun
3Saltwater CrocodileCan weigh up to 1500kg. Not a guy you want to have a fight with. Can hold its own against other apex predators in its territory, including sharks and big cats. Pretty lethargic though.
4Great White SharkCan weigh up to 1900kg but usually much less. Big sticks of muscle. Absolute units. Not to be trifled with. Except for orcas, they can do what they want.
5Polar BearCan weigh up to 700kg. Very strong. Goes for seals, reindeer and even small whales so these guys don't **** around.
6TigerCan weigh up to 388kg. Can destroy animals bigger than itself, but doesn't want the hassle if a big boy fights back.
7LionCan weigh up to 250kg. Goes for bigass prey often, kills zebras, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffes, and even elephants and hippos on occasion. Kills other predators like leopards, cheetahs and hyenas to weed out the competition
8Komodo DragonCan weigh more than 100kg. Takes on prey larger than itself with its immense stength and toxic venom but doesn't have much competition in the wild. Does have reinforced armoured scales, kinda like chainmail, which would be good in a fight.
9Golden EagleWeighing roughly 4kg, uses a combination of speed and power to hunt. Although less agile, would beat a peregrine falcon in a fight as he his almost as fast and much more powerful. Many reports of the golden eagle being killed by big cats, bears, other eagles, wolverines, etc. as it competes with other carnivores.
10Peregrine FalconCan weigh up to 1.5kg but usually much less. Only hunts small birds or rodents. Its all about speed and agility with this predator. With a top recorded speed of 389kph, which is pretty badass, it is the fastest animal around.

Live for

How long are they terrorizing their neighbourhoods for?

RankPredatorLive for
1Killer WhaleSimilar to humans
2Saltwater Crocodile70 years and probably more
3Great White Shark70 years or more
4Golden Eagle46 years recorded in captivity, more than 32y recorded in the wild, but average lifespan would be much less.
5.5Komodo DragonUp to 30 years
5.5T-RexUp to 30 years
7Polar BearRarely past 25y
8LionAverage 10-15y wild, 20-25y captive.
9TigerAverage 10-15y wild, 16-20y captive, 26y longest recorded captive.

Adaptability

How adaptable is this animal?

RankPredatorAdaptability
1Killer WhaleNot as good on land or in the air as some of the others, but untouchable in the ocean! Easily the smartest animal picked, which means they use tactics and strategise their hunts.
2Peregrine FalconSuccessful on every continent anywhere there is something high to dive off like mountains, valleys, cliffs and now skyscrapers.
3Komodo DragonShort bursts of speed on land and can climb trees. Can sense dead meat many kilometres away with its tongue, which is pretty badass. Often tears the meat off a carcass with its mouth but can swallow a whole goat without chewing if necessary, which saves time if he has a hot date.
4TigerComfortable on land and in the water. Stalks prey and ambushes but apparently gives up easy when the going gets tough.
5Saltwater CrocodileGood swimmers. Like the tropical climate. Very fast in the water or attacking from the edge of the water but not up to much on land.
6Great White SharkEats lots of stuff, sometimes stuff it can't even digest, so pretty stupid animal. Strikes from below and drags its prey down to the seabed. Flip him upside down and he's immobilized, which orcas have been witnessed doing.
7LionNot a fan of the water. Can hunt alone or in groups. Stalks prey. Apparently give up easy if they are spotted by the prey so farmers sometimes paint eyes on the back of their cattle!
8Polar BearThey hunt where the ice meets the water, rarely catching seals on open land or in open water, so not very adaptable.
9Golden EagleLikes cliffs and other high places but unlike the peregrine falcon, they struggle in human populated areas.
10T-RexHad stupid little arms that constantly embarrassed him. Had feathers but couldn't fly. I'd say these guys fell over a lot. Also, they dead.

If you enjoyed judging or picking in this category, you might like the Youtube channel TierZoo, in which the creator evaluates various animal “builds” as if they were character builds in a rpg. The cat tier list is a good place to start

These are all very cool animals and the differences between them are slight. Here is my attempt at a ranking.

1.
Spoiler:
Great White Shark – For me, the scariest one here by a mile. Absingle-minded minded killing machine.

2.
Spoiler:
Tiger – The biggest cat, could beat the lion in a fight

3.
Spoiler:
Lion – Classic pick. Points for its pack hunting abilities. Loses out to the tiger, though.

4.
Spoiler:
Saltwater croc – Pretty sure this is the oldest species here by far. A killing machine that evolved to perfection a long time ago and hasn’t changed much.

5.
Spoiler:
Killer Whale – The killer whale is very cool, but lacks the fearsomeness of those above. Rational or not, I can literally imagine becoming friends with one. I was fortunate enough to see a couple of them while in a sea kayak once, probably about 100 yards away. I wasn’t frightened in the least, which I think takes away from its status on this list.

6.
Spoiler:
T rex – A tough one to rank. It was gigantic and a textbook example of a scary monster. However, relative to animals of its time it was not as out of proportion as it would be today. We can’t know as much about it as the others, so its hard to say how good of a hunter it was.

7.
Spoiler:
Polar bear – A big bear, but a lot of things in its habitat are pretty big. It can be out-muscled by some of the other species of the area, and example being the walrus video Xander posted.

8.
Spoiler:
Peregrine Falcon – It is a very cool animal but I just can’t rank it above some of the more intimidating animals here. Admittedly, I may have an anti-bird bias.

9.
Spoiler:
Golden eagle - Again a cool animal, not as cool as the Peregrine Falcon.

10.
Spoiler:
Komodo dragon – A scary animal, but I don’t think it has the hunting skills of the others on this list. It does a lot of scavenging. Something had to be at the bottom of an elite list, and this is it.

Top undrafted: Megalodon, would have ranked it #2 probably. In general I’m surprised that there was only 1 extinct species drafted.

1)
Spoiler:
T-Rex - It’s a T-Rex.

2)
Spoiler:
Killer Whale - Not what would have come to my mind first but have to give credit here, really like the pick.

3)
Spoiler:
Great White Shark - I might actually like them more than Killer Whales but had to rank them below.

4)
Spoiler:
Polar Bear - Biggest land predator deserves the spot.

5)
Spoiler:
Saltwater Croc - Pretty fearsome.

6)
Spoiler:
Komodo Dragon - Big fan of these.

7)
Spoiler:
Tiger - Had to rank tiger above lion.

8)

Spoiler:
robert guillaume -

benson? i looked him up because maybe i thought he did a bunch of amazing acting in stuff i've never seen him, but nope. he has 100 acting credits, but no heavy hitting stuff. i've only seen him in benson, so maybe he's amazing in other stuff? i doubt it since he never did any critically aclaimed work. not that you have to be critically aclaimed to be good. but sorry eholle, i don't see it.

9)
Spoiler:
robert deniro -

probably the most overrated actor of all time. he was amazing in taxi driver and raging bull. he was good in a ton of other stuff. but soooo many of his performances it's obvious he doesn't give a **** and he's just trying to get paid. the other artists on this list give much more than deniro does.

8)
Spoiler:
sidney portier -

"they call me mr tibbs!" fire and fury! he def had some passion and let loose AND he had to break a lot of barriers to do the work he did. but imo he lacks the real passion and artistry of others on the list

7)
Spoiler:
leo dicaprio -

a lot of solid to great performances, but nothing really amazing. he works hard. he gives a lot of himself, but again just doesn't quite cut it.

6)
Spoiler:
jack nicholson -

now we're getting into real genuis territory. i do think nicholson is overrated, and similar to deniro has a lot of performances where he is just trying to get paid. but i think he gives more of himself than deniro even when just trying cash a check. and he has made so many brilliant choices that are just artistry, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, the shining, chinatown, ironweed

5)
Spoiler:
katherine hepburn -

genius at drama and comedy. passion, skill, very giving artist. could convery emotional summersalts with just a look. and incredibly rare for a woman to have such a long career, gave amazing performances as a young woman and as an old woman.

4)
Spoiler:
tom hanks -

a craftsman, always gives his all. a little too sane/normal to be one of the truly elite artists. but unquestionaly a brilliant actor, and a great guy. comedy and drama no problem

3)
Spoiler:
meryl streep -

many people consider her the greatest actor to ever live. hard to argue with them. soooo many brilliant performances, but one scene stands out for me. it's from ironweed. the scene where she sings in the bar. could be the best few minutes of acting ever. it's worth a look on youtube if you haven't seen it.

2)
Spoiler:
daniel day lewis -

probably most people consider him the greatest actor living, if not ever. and again, it's hard to argue with. i'd say he's the greatest skill wise, like how he transformed into abraham lincoln. no one else could have matched that. no one gives more. he pretty much goes insane for every role he plays. his techinical skill is off the scale. and he's an incredible artist too.

1)
Spoiler:
marlon brando -

unmatched. there will never be another. he broke the mold. there was acting before brando, and acting after brando. he changed the whole art. he allowed it to be honest, vulnerable, real. he single handedly changed all the movies and tv and theater we all watch. he said "this is bull****. acting needs to be better." while it's true he couldn't transform himself like ddl could, or get as technically real as some modern actors, he had something they all lacked. he had a passion that he put on display, he had an insanity, a sensuality, a vulnerabilty that we'll never see again.

the art of acting isn't about who can recreate a situation the most realistically. similar to painting, the best paintings aren't the closest recreations to what we see with our eyes, they show us something else, something we don't see with our eyes. acting is the same. the best performances are not what we'd see in real life, it's showing something else, in a different way. that was what brando excelled at, showing us something else.

some great actors imo . any of them would have been 4th. psh would have been 3rd

Here are some thoughts about the actors drafted in order of the draft table. Rankings table is below:

I’ve seen Sidney Poitier in exactly 2 movies and I don’t remember him in either of them. Not a good sign

Robert De Niro is such a great actor. He’s in the centre of incredible movies and he’s capable of playing a load of different character types convincingly. One of the all time greats.

Katharine Hepburn is good in every movie I’ve seen her in, but that’s only 3. Also because in each movie she wasn’t “the star” she was the co-star. She acted very well, but I can’t really separate how convincing she was from how well she worked with Humphrey Bogart/Cary Grant. Still a very solid actor and a definite stand out of her day.

Jack Nicholson is good and is in a bunch of good movies. He’s got a bit of range, but he’s mostly the same sort of guy (at least in the movies I’ve seen ). Very good actor but doesn’t seem like the greatest of picks seeing how deep this category was.

DDL is pretty much the GOAT actor. You believe that he is the person he is portraying. He doesn’t seem like he’s acting, just being. Enormous range and has the explosive power and extreme subtlety not to mention My Left Foot.

I know who Robert Guillaume is but I’ve not seen him star in anything and he doesn’t even do anything interesting/important in what I’ve seen him in. Sorry he’s not going to score particularly well.

Leonardo DiCaprio is a very good actor. I’ve seen him in a bunch of stuff which is good and he’s a lot of the reason that it was good. His performance in The Aviator was the only think I liked about the movie. When you question range you only have to think back to The Beach, Romeo + Juliet and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape to realise that he’s got it all.

Meryl Steep is an actor that I’ve only seen 6 movies from which seems criminal. However I’ve seen some great stuff with her in, including an outright starring role in Florence Foster Jenkins. I wasn’t in love with that movie but her performance was great. Her top performance has to be in the Deer Hunter though, playing the love interest of war veterans really convincingly. Mreyl Streep is a great actor and I should probably see more stuff with her in.

Marlon is a really elite actor. His best movie is The Godfather but if you want to see his best performance then I think you’ve got to look at A Streetcar Named Desire and On the Waterfront. I’ve not seen too much from him so I haven’t seen too much in terms of range unless you want to all the later shenanigans he got up to as range. The Godfather does show some range and I’ve convinced he’s got range only I’m yet to see it.

I’ve seen plenty of Tom Hanks and he’s great in everything but he seems to be always playing a nice guy. Apparently he’s a nice guy in real life too and does this make him the most high profile actor who can only play themselves? Some variations on the nice guy: Charlie Wilson’s War (Corrupt Politician who becomes a nice guy by the end), The Terminal (Foreign nice guy), Road to Perdition (Gangster, but a nice one), The Circle (Not your typical nice guy, but a forgettable supporting performance). Conclusion is that he’s a great actor but lacking in range.

Spoiler:
Robert Guillaume – Not a good sign that I had to look this guy up. His claim to fame is playing Benson? Okay, very odd pick.

9.
Spoiler:
Sidney Poitier – Maybe the strangest #1 overall draft pick I’ve ever seen. He’s a fine actor, but there’s nothing that makes him stand out over other actors.

8.
Spoiler:
Leonardo DiCaprio – Very good actor, and really I think he is currently the best in the biz at picking his roles. I can be pretty sure I’ll like any movie he’s in.

7.
Spoiler:
Katharine Hepburn – Winner of 4 Oscars, which is pretty amazing. Although, I find her rather grating tbh.

6.
Spoiler:
Tom Hanks – If I was an 80yo grandma, he would undoubtedly be #1!

5.
Spoiler:
Daniel Day-Lewis – No bad performances, but loses points for starring in very few films.

4.
Spoiler:
Jack Nicholson – He has that x-factor to him that you can’t get from any other actor.

3.
Spoiler:
Meryl Sheep – I’ll be honest, she kind of annoys me and I don’t care for most of her movies. But I can’t deny that she’s a great actress.

2.
Spoiler:
Marlon Brando – Undoubtedly the best actor of his generation and being responsible for modernising acting should be enough for the #1 spot, but…

1.
Spoiler:
Robert De Niro – Has been responsible for so many of my favourite movies and performances, and he had like a 30 year period where he could do almost no wrong. I could do without all his politarding these days, though.
