Some rules:

- The score of each primary judge will be worth 40% of the overall score, & the score of each of 3 secondary judges will be worth 20% each.

- Players will have at least 6 hours to pick in the 1st round, 5 hours in the 2nd, & 4 for the rest of the draft, in addition to your 7 hour sleep window, which you should pick as soon as you can.

- You should PM the next in line to let them know it's their turn unless your name is filthy. filthy will not send any PMs and does not like to receive any which is his right as an American. If at all bothered by this then irtm and eyebooger should PM each other that it's filthy's turn and their turn is coming soon.

- If your time runs out then the draft skips to the next in line and the clock begins on them. Skipped players can catch up at their convenience.

- I will PM every player now to let them know that this has started and then we can proceed but the clock won't start for anyone until 7pm server time.

There could be a small handful of observers who aren't participating in the draft. Any chance of getting them to be secondary judges? The prospect of me having 20% of the vote in 3 categories that I'm also going to be drafting in is sub-optimal.

Sub-optimal? Give yourself 1st in all categories.

I think people will be generally honest but still naturally biased toward their own picks. Hopefully, we all get a roughly equal boost.

45% for main judge, 15% per secondary judge, 10% to outside observers (average of all outside people)?
Would an out side observer have to rank all 13 categories though? Or could they do some portion of them.

Let's see if there's any actual interest from non-participants in judging any or all of the categories & then come up with a formula that works.

Ideally, that can leave us judging fewer than 3 of the categories that we're also drafting in.

And, yeah, I'll do my best to be objective... but looking back in the POGcathlon draft, I know I would have rated myself higher in every single category than where I actually landed.

First, find out how many observers we have who would do that.

Outside judges are obviously best. I just worry that pretty much everyone interested in this is already playing

I'll bet we could find 2 or 3 guest judges willing to rate all 13 categories pretty easily if we make it clear that we're not looking for any write-ups from them. Is that a trade-off worth considering?

Interesting idea. Need to consider weightings, etc. My pick gets rated out of 12 by the main judge, and out of 11 by 3 (e.g.) side judges and not at all by me if I am a side judge. If I am not a side judge, then out of 12 by main judge, and out of 11 by 4 (e.g.) side judges.

I'm not suggesting we don't do this, in fact I like the idea, we just need to make sure it works properly.

All it really does is slightly change the actual %s one way or the other.

Every main judge would be judging 12 things & every side judge 11.

Main judges scores go from 48 to 4, side judges either from 24 to 4 or 22 to 2.

Oops, you're right. Missing points on side judge categories. Yeah, just make the main judge 50% & the other 2 side judges 25% in those instances.

But yeah, I really don't think "how much we like our own picks" is an important criteria.

I perfectly fine with whatever we do on the judging side of things:

a). 40% Primary 3x 20% Secondary
b). 70% Primary 3x 10% Secondary
c). 100% Primary
d). 40% Primary 3x 20% Secondary with your own pick not judged
e). Primary + Spectator votes
f). Other
g). Bastard

I shouldn't try to think this early in the morning. I'm sure it's solvable, though.

Spectator vote adding is totally fine if people want to do it imo.
