Sure i can. It's just I'm tired. The biggest thing is that it's a false analogy to equate black/white and gay/straight with male/female

@filthyvermin

Why should a large group of people stop doing something that is fun and something that gathers a lot of traction when it runs, just because a few people dislike the possibility of that thing being used for objectifying women?

It's not, and stopping it because someone can't get over their own personal views and let other people have their own, is even more ridiculous.

POG Person of the Year

Best solution.

There is already Ms OOT so unless we are competing (we aren't) with OOT there doesn't really seem to be a need for two Ms 2p2 Girl only contests.

I don't think I've ever seen someone brag about their Ms POG winning after the series has run its course or take great pride in it. (maybe right away but that died off probably within a week to never be mentioned again)

Just make it from now on POG Person of the year.

If a cutie pie girl wins with her pics, good for her, if Hilldog wins with her $tats, good for her, if Donald Trump wins, good for him, you get the point.

I don't care if Ms POG stays or not, lets throw every possible entry into the rotation and see what happens.

The only "issue" I see is trying to pair up entries vs. eachother, RNG is probably best.

Everything goes. As long as it is a Person. (yes I self exclude my glorious dog)

People make their case no matter what he/she is/does/looks like.

The people vote.

The possibility of it objectifying women? How could anyone argue whether a beauty contest does that?

I would have stated that it would have been better for someone else to open that thread. Then I would have written about 100 posts explaining that the Politics thread needed to be closed.

Because I seriously doubt it.
Why asking a question if you think you know the answer? If you are trying to expose me as a hypocrite, you can just write "I think UD is a hypocrite" without asking me these lame, rhetorical questions.

Yes, because you would expect at least some private coordination among our four voluntary janitors. Everyone running around rogue trying to take on people by themselves.

Sorry but POG as it stands is a joke. Think what you want but the key figures in this thread are bringing HEART and I respect that. It would be nice if the mods took to their example and stop being jaded grumpypants.

I said I would test the water.

If you had said, well actually, I didn't realise that Ms POG even could be offensive, but now we've talked about it, I think maybe it can, so perhaps we could modify it, then we could have talked about it.

Instead, you attacked me and Crossnerd personally and are adamant that you see nothing wrong with the thread and don't care who else does.

Which is fine. I tested the water and you said gtfo. It's your right to do that. I'm not going to impose my view on you.

I absolutely did not attack Crossnerd. I make it a point, if anything, of being extremely careful of what I say to her. I did attack you, I now think I was in the wrong for doing so, and I apologized.

POTY idea overlapping with the politics thread in its inception isn't a good sign.

I said reasonable arguments.

The argument that its bad to do to these two historically disenfranchised classes but ok to do to this other historically disenfranchised class is exactly the equivalency I want people to see. None of the versions of that post are ok, but one of them is allowed to poison this forum.

a Ivanka Trump vote vs Matt Damon? Who knows what would happen?

We have seen MS Pog for years. it is not evolving.

No one would do that to the other groups because it would be ridiculous to do so. And it isn't because it wouldn't be ok. We can come up with easy thought experiments to make it ok.

sorry i'm not quite clear on your post. are you saying it's not objectifying women?

i objectified women in it. i think monkey banana and crossnerd did too. and we are probably on the less sexist side of the spectrum in miss pog. it's the nature of the beast. it's a sexist contest.

and the world is full of examples of groups of people doing things that hurt a minority or even a majority of others.

and again, you're arguing that i need to let you have your personal view. fine. you can have your personal view. but if your personal view is racist or sexist, i'm gonna be offended, and i'm gonna speak up and tell you not to post that in pog.

Who ever stated that holding a beauty contest means women are now objects?

Nor are they somehow only valued for their beauty

These are all misconceptions created from woman who feel self confident about their own beauty and don't want to see other woman put on a pedestal for something they can never have. Ouch, that sounds like a tough thing to say.

We hold contest for strength/style/talents all the time and nobody has a problem. Also nobody is going around screaming objectifying! or creating this illusion that the athletes/talents are only valuable for that sole thing.
02-06-2017 , 05:26 AM
Like lets say that pog had a small but vocal contingent of Muslims who were heavily against pork but we also had a yearly bbq contest...

Do you see?
02-06-2017 , 05:27 AM
BTW, I would like to note that the Ms POG contest is currently about to slide to page 2; I think the interest is at an historic low. It is perfectly possible that what VR or Adam posted changed someone's mind and they chose not to participate bc of it. Which is perfectly fine. This is how it has to be. If the arguments are convincing enough, the game will die down by itself. I think some of drama could have been avoided if VR, Adam or Crossnerd created the thread themselves.

It is obviously objectifying women. To argue it is not in any way, is insane. To what level it is, its an argument.

So if I inform people on which woman I find attractive, I'm a sexist and you're triggered?

That's my problem, and I need to stop being this terrible human being. I've learned a lot today, thanks.

Not drinking is not hard when you just don't like alcohol. I almost puked after smelling a glass of vodka once.

since we are lone wolf POG mods, I'm going to rename the Ms POG thread to:

POG Person of the Year

and bump it, if any of the other lone wolf mods want to change it back, they have the power
