Not exactly sure why we just decided to forget about the water clue that still needed to be closed out, but whatever. A spring is literally water. And that was next on the list, which was the last thing posted before bolding bill.

This is what happens when you are resistant to convention like lists and n-1. You try to use them and use them incorrectly. It’s very difficult for a spymaster to communicate intention when this happens.
Splinters and pins are both small, sharp, pointy things. In the end game, try to find the words that are clued and then pick up what’s left. You determining somehow that pin was only possibly ours because of n-1 completely disregarded the fact that there was still a water word left to get.

so for black, why not go dark - 3 for dark horse, dark shadow, space? so maybe it was for black tail? but then he's thinking of tail for an animal, so why not monkey or wag or whatever now?

at the end of the day, he gave us a 1 clue for tail (unless you see anything even 1/10th as good) and that leaves us with making up the 2 cake words that we had left on our list: degree and honey
