carpenter - 4 for nail and wood, obviously, and apron and cap (which I see carpenters wearing). Avoided carpentry to try to avoid other wood/crafting words.

jangled - 3 for nerve, key, and (after some thought) quarter. I probably should have gone with rattle(d) here, but I didn't think of it.

ancient - unlimited: 7 words clued for, so 2 left - ice age and mummy. Had to wait for pyramid to go. I'm surprised blue released the pyramid/mummy bind so early.

brain - 2 for nerve and cap (head related word).

rattle - 2 for nerve and quarter, which was being considered already for jangled.

Food I probably should have thought of earlier, but was definitely easier without apron there. The 4th one was stamp as in food stamps.

Rider - 2 was night + driver. It's actually a legal clue for knight rider & the exact example used when we got into this discussion to begin with. Plus there's apparently a movie called Night Rider, & it's even in Merriam-Webster dictionary:

Rider & Driver I definitely consider related words. I had never heard of the movie Whale Rider until after I looked it up because I was like wtf is that when you guessed it? Also wasn't familiar with the term bow rider for that kind of boat.

Then I went curtsy unlimited because the 2 rider words were literally the only other 2 words you had talked about, & I would always say 2 if I was cluing for 2 words, even tangentially.

You backed off driver here, but I figured unlimited would make you realize there was no other choice because there were no other words in play & curtsy had to be a 1 clue. Then the existence of a bow rider complicated things haha.

It’s only legal bc there is a movie called night rider and it’s in the dictionary but personally I find it dubious because it’s 100% obvious the clue is meant to make people think of knight rider so it’s just a way of getting around the rhyme rule...but I’ve lost these battles before; pog has spoken already

Yeah I thought about going driver but then I figured boat - 2 gets driver and bow without cap coming into play and unlimited often means I’m correct on other words but I had ruled out driver explicitly so figured that wasn’t in play

If I hadn’t made that post then I always go driver there after night since you did unlimited but since I only had one word in play I figured you weren’t cluing based on that.

Yeah. That post was unfortunate haha, but I didn't have a reasonable backup plan.

I was afraid of watch or cap coming into play if I went with something boat related, but maybe should have went there. Also, I probably didn't reevaluate much after when I couldn't go boat with whale on the board earlier.

We can switch it up. I'm back at work tomorrow, so starting in a couple of hours, my play won't be as fast paced. I'm out of bed in 8.5 hours, at work in 10.5, and can check in every 3-4 hours.
