Nice questions Sun! Thanks for running this. The lung question was my favorite. (And I obv missed it)

My mostly incorrect thinking:

1). Elements with high atomic numbers have more neutrons than protons and they weigh the same so the answer must be neutrons (electrons are numerous but very light, didn't know what baryons were). What I realised after the fact was that elements with high atomic numbers are very scarce compared to hydrogen which is all proton and no neutron.

2). Gold is pretty unattractive and therefore stable. Iron rusts and nitrogen can be explosive at times. Bismuth seems a bit random to be the answer given the other options. If it was bismuth I'd expect more similar options. What I didn't realise was that a lot of these reactions involve electrons and not the nucleus. That doesn't lead me to the correct answer but it makes my thinking irrelevant.

3). Gravity is ~10ms-2 and F = ma so it's asking what's the mass of your head? 5kg? 0.5kg? 0.05kg? 0.00005kg? Got this one right

4). Thought about it and had no inkling, pure guess

5). Question was specifically about fat and so rectum was the red herring. I didn't have the specific science to back it up but lungs just seemed right. Got this one

2/5

thanks for the game and congrats to the winners

This one is counterintuitive and pretty interesting. It's similar to the question of where the mass of a tree (or any plant) comes from.

We get our energy and nutrients from the plants and animals we consume. That metabolism depends on breathing in O2 and breathing out CO2. When we lose weight, it's from the carbon exiting our bodies through our lungs.
Fascinating, my thinking was that we convert mass into energy, both kinetic and as warmth. Didn't even think about the carbon leaving through the lungs.
