Round 2 Category: Songs That Build
Deadline: 11:59 PM on Sunday, August 30th
I'm a sucker for this type of song. It can be a song that slowly builds up from a single instrument or a simple tune into something much bigger. Think 'Stairway To Heaven' by Led Zeppelin for an obvious example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkF3oxziUI4
Or it could be one of my favorite examples of all time, and one that wouldn't really be eligible for a Walrus because it's an entire concert, but if you've never seen the film 'Stop Making Sense' by The Talking Heads, you owe it to yourself to check this out. It begins with just David Byrne, a boom box, and a guitar on an empty stage and builds and builds until the entire band has joined him, not to mention guest musicians, and backup vocalists. What an amazing show they put on. Here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xL7Ilh1DFI

way to mention basically every band i was going to use
I'm a bit worried about this one. I had a song in mind for a category like this because I love a song that starts slow and turns into a headbanger, but the one I had in mind I could see being construed as a but repetitive. The one I ultimately went with, though, I currently love but I bet it took me double digit listens for it to land in my favorites.
rickroll submitted 'A Zed and Two L's' by Fila Brazilia.
Spoiler:
KarmaDope submitted 'Beck's Bolero' by the Jeff Beck Group. I'm guessing that Ravel's Bolero was the "obvious" choice that was thrown around in this thread the last few days. Did anyone submit that? We'll find out.
Spoiler:
Nich wins the award for the safest safe song of this round of the Walrus. There is no universe in which this song was ever finishing in the podium or the nodium. Here's 'Say It Ain't So' by Weezer.
Spoiler:
Treep belatedly wins the safest safe song of round 1 for 'Given Up' by Linkin Park.
Spoiler:
Eric Clipperton submitted 'Complicated Game' by XTC.
Spoiler:
outdrawed was worried about this one. No worries, mate. You're safe. Here's 'Motorcycle Drive By' by Third Eye Blind.
Spoiler:
bwslim submitted 'All My Friends' by LCD Soundsystem.
Spoiler:
If I recall correctly, Gad submitted this band for the gold medal podium spot in my last Grab Bag Walrus category, so this was pretty much a layup. Here's 'The Perfect Kiss' by New Order.
Spoiler:
Donk was pretty cocky in round 1 and made the podium. This round he was equally cocky, but there are at least 3 songs that ranked higher. But he safely advances to round 3 with 'Movies' by Weyes Blood.
Spoiler:
Treep nearly made the podium with this one. Is this sung in Japanese? Me likey. This is 'Sparkle' by Radwimps.
