one more for tonight.

On to the middle songs. The following are safe.

Song #4

Spoiler:
Song: Golden
Artist: Travie McCoy ft Sia
Submitter: D1iabol1cal

Notes: Not going to lie, I love Sia's voice - she is crazy crazy talented. Surprisingly I don't think I've heard this one before? I just looked up Travie McCoy and realized he was in Gym Class Heroes (TBT to that group) - I think he is decent, not amazing but keeps the song pretty fun and then Sia just absolutely kills the chorus.

D1iab taking an early 3-1 lead on Suq. Will he keep it up??

these next 3 are close - not going to spend a ton of time nitpicking the rankings.

Song #5

Spoiler:
Song: Noise Pollution (Version A, Vocal Up Mix 1.3)
Artist: Portugal The Man
Submitter: SuqAta8

Notes: I like Portugal The Man, they have a really really cool sound. This is another one that could go on my more chill playlist. It blends a lot of genres together: rock, rap, indie, electronic and does it in a really cool way. Good stuff.

Song #6

Spoiler:
Song: Power & Control
Artist: Marina and the Diamonds
Submitter: SuqAta8

Notes: Back-to-back songs for Suq here to tie it up. Solid female vocals - good electronic beat. It feels a little slow at times - I wish the beat was a slight bit faster but it does pick up at times. Overall this is one I enjoyed each time I listened.

Song #7

Spoiler:
Song: Other Girls
Artist: CAPPA
Submitter: SuqAta8

Notes: Suq on a streak here! This song is very similar to the last submission. Female vocals I like with an electronic beat, but also just a bit too slow overall and doesn't really pick up like the last one did. Still a solid listen and as I mentioned, all of these 10 submissions could have easily podiumed past categories.

Spoiler:
After a strong start....the momentum has shifted! Going into the final nodium we have D1iab with 2 songs left to Suq's 1. I will save that for later today/tonight!!

the following is SAFE:

Spoiler:
Song: Good Old Days
Artist: Macklemore ft Kesha
Submitter: D1iabol1cal

Notes: Shocker - I revealed one of D1iab's song first. Wouldn't be suspenseful the other way! In all honesty though this would be the next song up on the list anyway and was pretty close to not being on the podium.

This is a good song - I like some of Macklemore's stuff and some of Kesha's stuff but wouldn't call myself a huge fan of either. Not a song I would go out of my way to listen to but I enjoy it when I am listening.

the following song is SAFE and is our CHAMPION

Spoiler:
Song: The Middle
Artist: Jimmy Eat World
Submitter: D1iabol1cal

Notes: A good song that was only subject to the podium due to the sheer quality of the other submissions. I was never a big Jimmy Eat World fan but tbh I can't name a single other song by them other than this one.

Definitely a solid track and one I've always enjoyed when I hear it. Some nostalgia factor but not much as I wasn't really into the band. Still - it's fun, upbeat, and enough to get D1iab the GOLD.

---

which leaves:

Spoiler:
Song: First Snow
Artist: Emancipator
Submitter: SuqAta8

Notes: First want to say congrats to Suq on a really strong second place - some awesome awesome submissions in this round and throughout the Walrus.

I actually don't dislike this genre and didn't dislike this song at all! It was just unfortunately up against 9 really strong submissions and the one I enjoyed the least.

very very chill song - something I would listen to while studying or reading, but would usually lean towards something a bit more chill-house/electronic-esque. It is basically instrumental, which I don't hate, but don't particularly prefer (besides some talking vocals which more take away from the song than add to it)

Still liked the song, but had to be nit-picky this round! Thanks so much for playing Suq!!!

Sweet! That was a really good sweat, gg suq.

Thanks for running this, dizzy. I enjoy this format much more than the standard walrus...would play again for sure.

Well, Mr Brightside was already taken! Eliminator Walrus

But tbf, the song you went out on was kinda snoozeville imo. And I'm not sure why a song should be marked down just because it's popular.

just want to check in and say i had a lot of fun doing this and am eternally grateful for discovering this song, sadly the rest of her body of work doesn't have the same impact for me but this song is a regular in my rotation and i am not a synth pop, synth or even pop fan so that speaks volumes

lmfao, this sums up my experience as well

although the song is catchy, i literally grew up believing that jimmy eat world was a local boston band because i couldn't possibly understand why else that song would be so popular - then when i went to college I heard the song there too and was like "woah you guys know this band?" and needless to say it was a bit of a shocker they weren't a local band from boston but rather an internationally famous band that somehow was popular
