it's called disney genius and the GOATness of Louis Prima.
That whole movie was like that. They had a bunch of songs and script straight out of the original book, then disney threw it all out because it was too dreary. He instead let the animators go wild with the character design and built the story around that. Bare necessities was the only song that survived the chopping block.
The rest took shape around the casting choices.
