When I have a successful reveal it makes me feel silly for not trying harder overall.

Female Comedy - Mae Martin ...

nominated by

mexineil

This might be the greatest comedy ever, but I'd never know since the video doesn't work...
Well at the start of the reveal like eight months ago the video was still up!

Right - Tig Notaro was really good, but that last joke about texting someone "What's your ETA?" - I've heard before, practically verbatim. I'm also pretty sure it's from a comedian I really like. Anyone got any ideas?

Billy Connolly Wife Joke.

nominated by

Spoiler:
e_holle

Spoiler:
Didn't find this funny. I think that Billy Connolly is very clever and witty in an observational sort of way. If he's part of a documentary or travel programme I'll always be interested to hear what he has to say as it will usually be funny and insightful, but his stand up kinda sucks. I've heard a bunch of his stuff before and never found it funny. This clip was new to me, but equally unfunny.

George Carlin - Guys Named Todd

nominated by

Spoiler:
eyebooger

Spoiler:
I like a lot of George Carlin's stand up but this clip is very far from a highlight.
It's not even really true which kinda bugs me. What makes Todd a soft name and Jackie a hard name? The audience love him and just go with it, but it's not great stand up. I saw George Carlin when I fired up the clip and expected a lot better than that.
Me disappoint.

Just for laughs-Italians

nominated by

Spoiler:
ChachiArcola

Spoiler:
If I turned up to an open mic night and this guy was playing then I'd be really pleased. But he seems like a club comic rather than a stadium comic. He's competent but not hilarious. He's got the right timing, enthusiasm and body language but he hasn't got that special something that sets him apart from the masses. A lot of stereotypes and hyperbole and nothing really original or of substance.

Did Kevin Bridges accidentally buy a horse? - Would I Lie to You? [CC]

nominated by

Spoiler:
Bloobird

Spoiler:
I've seen this show many times before and this clip a couple of times at least. There are many good clips and this is certainly one of them. The clip works as a whole with people's reactions and interactions rather than having set jokes and punchlines but I do like the line about "...two Scottish guys trying to speak English." The clip is made so much better due to the fact that it was true, I think that works as a punchline. I think that the best clips from this show come from Lee Mack like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVJpTX_c0aw

Also it was noted that your clip was long. It didn't affect your ranking, but would have if it was a closer decision.

Dave Chappelle - How Old Is Fifteen Really?

nominated by

Spoiler:
JMurder3

Spoiler:
I really like Dave Chappelle. I think his sketch show is great, his stand up is great and I love Half Baked. It's a well constructed piece of comedy because it's original, it starts of with an outrageous premise and then justifies it to the point of convincing you and most importantly it's funny. Good submission

Al Porter on the Big Show

nominated by

Spoiler:
rtspurs

Spoiler:
I started off not thinking too much of this but I really warmed to him as the clip went on. I especially liked the bits about how Irish people say things. My wife and her family are Irish and I have certainly heard most of those things before. I know people who are described as harmless. I also smirked at multiple lines like maternity ward and ooh-7. Lots of jokes coming thick and fast and lots of them were hits.

Hannibal Buress on The Late Show with David Letterman (Better Quality)

nominated by

Spoiler:
mexineil

Spoiler:
Hannibal Buress is another one of these comedians that I should have heard more from, but I haven't. He's a great talent that I'm certainly going to look into more of his stuff. He reminds me of Mitch Hedberg at times with his delivery and certain things he says "Where's the other task?" "You know my phone technique". Pretty much every joke was great. Loved the pickle juice specifics about the size of your fingers and length of time left in the jar. Great clip. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for playing and thanks for sharing your comedy suggestions.

I can also understand why so many walruses get abandoned or take a very long time to reveal. It's not the time listening to things or ranking them but it's coming up with the right words to articulate how you feel. I'm kinda glad that only 7 of you entered tbh.

thanks again and congrats mexineil on a dominating win.

Flight of the Conchords - Humans are Dead

nominated by

Spoiler:
mexineil

Spoiler:
I love this. I'm aware of Flight of the Conchords but have never seen the TV show and have only seen a couple of clips of them online. I've always thought the clips were great and I've no idea why I've not got into them more. This song is a bit of a slow starter. That's not saying it's bad at the start but it gets better and better as it goes on. The random gun noises, binary solo "come on sucker, lick my battery" are all great. It also helps that they're great musicians. They work really well together and all the jokes hit home. Great song, really funny, very deserving of top spot. Note to self: Marathon Flight of the Conchords.
my favorite comedy song

Anthony Jeselnik Legendado - College Humor Live

nominated by

Spoiler:
mexineil

Spoiler:
Wow this was funny. A lot funnier than I expected it to be. I'd heard Anthony Jeselnik only once before on a ComedyCentral Roast and I thought he wasn't very funny. It seems like stand up doesn't come naturally by him. His delivery is quite stilted, but boy are his jokes funny. Very well written, very original and every one of them was a hit. He pauses between lines but you still don't see the punchline coming. I misjudged Anthony, but thanks to this walrus he's definitely gonna get a 2nd chance.
lol mexi

are we the same person?

Flight of the Conchords - favorite comedy band, favorite comedy song

Mitch Hedberg - favorite comedian

Anthony Jeselnik - favorite living comedian, and my biggest inspiration (I do stand up myself and people often compare me to him)

Right xander, get your ass to London, we clearly need to go for a beer.

Thanks for running, this was great. Very glad you liked Hannibal & Jeselnik. btw I almost submitted something by Stewart Lee - what's your thoughts on him?

gg everyone else, I might not play the next one and give someone else a chance. Or I might run one...

That is pretty uncanny. Mitch is the undisputed GOAT, I know every word to every one of his jokes. I've also done standup and Jeselnik had a big influence on me too.
