my best theory is this:
We are both from the UK, where about 50% of our school curriculum is about the Blitz where the Germans bombed the hell out of us in WW2. But Nich is not from the UK and may not be as aware of the meaning of blitz to us.
I was thinking that a blitz might be a handegg term and that he is trying to get us to guess hit and sack and couldn't say something like "football" because of stadium. Now that you've confirmed it is an actual American football term I feel much better about my theory.
