School - you might have to use a carpenter to build a school, so that's possible


Bucket - made of wood possible, made by a carpenter

Eye - maybe a carpenter needs good eyes?
March - I've got nothing here
Sticker - really cant make a decent connection here
Valentine - I cant imagine this is it unless its "a carpenter would make you something for valentines day"

My thought process & where I went wrong:

Chop = Ax + Break + Washington

George Washington chopping his dad's cherry tree & then being honest about it has been a popular American myth since the early 1800s. I probably over-estimated the popularity of this legend as it never even crossed either of your minds.

Waddle = Penguin + Step

I should have gone Waddle 3, but I was thinking March would get got before Dwarf, but that still would have been a fine result, & it was definitely a mistake by me.

Supersonic = Washington + Oasis

I hoped cluing for Washington here would help you realize that this was the 3rd chop word. Fail.

Louboutin = Step + Silk + Sticker

Sticker price, iconic label blah blah blah. It was the best I could do, & I had to steer you guys away from the path you were still going down with chop toward helping them out with another word.

I had some considerations for triplehints (spacecraft, space, wormhole), but I thought I would be getting Maple or Steel for free and they would never finish in 3 rounds, so I took the safe route

Seems they had the tougher list

I thought the supersonic hint was the best of the game

FYI I haven't been googling anything, but I also don't think allowing research is a big deal. I seem to be in the minority on that, so let's keep it banned.

I only gave them that wikipedia definition because I would have been very surprised for them to get Sticker and very surprised if my team would fail the last two clues.

So it was some nasty false hope giving on my part

I agree that if you cannot investigate proper nouns (or even anything at all) and I do not expect this same courtesy in any game from opponents.
