Also had collar as a near lock for extension too.

I feel like there is a clue that ties together my last three, and I have been knocking my brain trying to figure it out.

I don't get the delay on going soup 4 cause I'm not seeing any connections to ruin it.

Also as an aside E we were pretty far ahead so it's ok to put 2 and 1 unless you really think they can win in one which would've been hard. I thought string was a good clue it just took me a second to figure it had to be straw.

I wonder if wrestling is better to avoid the bad word.

Could've done Night's for crow and thief for the Night's watch maybe since they're called crows and mostly are thieves and such.

Thanks for this n00b game, guys. It has been a great experience that I aim to repeat as many times as I can. Great guessing, my partners. Before I saw eleanor's last clue, I was worried, even though we had a lead. If he could score a 3, and my team didn't get my 3, I figured he could score an easy 2 (or 2.5, if needed).

I figured if we didn't get straw and brain off the given clues, I was going with Oz to pick them up.

Okay, so here is my spiel.
First review of the list was an, oh darn, this is difficult.
Ultimately I was struggling all over the place.

Then I saw Stock, Water, ... hm that sounds like a soup.
Let me think what happens if I say Soup 2 - yup those two are obvious.

I then started to think further and saw Soul for soup, but genuinely wondered if anyone knew the book series - my error as I should have said Soup - 3 as realistically the only other word would have been Turkey, but it was a noob miscalculation wondering if I see Soul as the only other word because I can see our words.

So, I went Soup 2, and you knew Soul and mentioned Turkey. I'd actually saved those two together for Thanksgiving

At that point we were left with:
Ladder
Scale
Cricket
Stadium
Trick

I had also thought perhaps Soul and Trick - Mentalist but again your guess on Q1 changed that.

Then e-holle played a 3 and we were one behind with an extra word. With cable being guessed for them, I thought Extension could be a game changer.

My thoughts on it were:
Ladder - obvious
Scale - seemed obvious to me as "to scale" "to extend"
Worst case scenario I saw you saying
Pound
Ranch
which were neutral (not the end of the world), but you may think:
Extension - Stadium because stadiums being extended/ expanded for capacity following promotions is extremely common in the UK.

Collar did not cross my mind for a split second and I saw no way of us getting to it so thought we may get 3, possibly 4, but the game will still be live.

Depending on which ones you guessed, (likely IMO to be ladder/ scale that leaves us with:
Trick
Turkey
Cricket
Stadium

Upon reflection, that's still going to take two different clues, but I did not see a way for us to regain the lead (knowing we have an extra word to guess I wanted to be 2 up so needed us to get 3)

If we had got stadium
Cricket/ trick/ turkey
Two of those could be guessed in a word, and honestly had they not taking the lead, I felt I had a good few clues and we could have just gone with Extension -2. Again I failed to see the collar connection, I do now.

I think the mistake was being conservative on our first word as going Soup - 3/4 like I thought, would have had us comfortably running through with clues like:
Diorama - 2 (Stadium/ Scale)
Or
Batsman - 2 (Stadium/ cricket)
Extension - 2 (Stadium/ scale)
Thanksgiving - 2 (should we not get Turkey early on - turkey/ soul)

Basically this first game as codemaster was very eye opening to me and a big learning curve.

Again apologies to my team but thank you for it being so enjoyable.

Man, rookie error was not checking e_holle's words that were left but even then without throwing out a risky 4 or 3 I don't see how I could have combined the other words. That said, Extension was always going to kill us as you guessed Killer Collar as your second guess.

I think it comes down to self doubt/ conservative approach for the first clue.

LOL IRTM on JPP. & I never would have expected collar as an answer for extension, even if it kind of makes sense in a way.

looks like you just had a tough list eleanor. i do like going the aggressive approach on the first clue tho, and usually triple check that i won't get the other team's words or death word if i add a tenuous connection or two
