As far as I know, Uluru is the Aboriginal name for Ayer's Rock, and now the official name (as part of the "sorry for the genocide and institutional racism" programme).
It is not technically part of any Australian state. I would imagine its a national park, but not sure about that, definitely a protected heritage site.
If he wanted to link kangaroo and park, its probably the best word imo.
