If next round starts before Sunday I'd like IRTM to spy next. I return home Sunday morning on a redeye.
I'll spy, that's fine.

The All-Ireland Hurling Championship Final is on Sunday, and my county Galway are going for two in a row. I would highly recommend anyone to watch it.
I would if I could.

Since I won't be able to watch the 2018 final, I decided to watch the 2017 final. Great match. A good start by Galway was the difference, in my opinion. Still, it was tight to the end, and a hard-won victory.

I hate to root against Limerick, but I'll stand by our local team (if I may claim that by association), who are the defending champions. Go Galway! Or whatever is the appropriate exhortation in the local dialect.

As a North American, I can recommend hurling to any sports fan.

So is hurling basically lacrosse or what's different then?

This makes me very happy!

Its an ancient game that has been described as a mixture of field hockey and death. I don't know enough about lacrosse to tell you specifics, but they don't have a net on their sticks and the pitch is huge.

Hurling is the fastest field sport in the world.

Post your favorite clip and I'll watch it. I thought they didn't have nets from the pics I saw so that's interesting.

Hard to find decent videos online. Its non-stop action, you'd have to watch a match to get a real feel for it.

3 points for a goal, 1 point for over the bar, you have to balance or bounce the ball on the hurl to take more than 4 steps, but they can do it full sprint.

"Shoulders" are allowed. Every hurler has broken every finger multiple times, helmets are compulsory now but no other protection.

Here's a couple of videos:

I had wondered just how much you could move with ball in hand. Steps, distance, or time.
