How many words do you think we have? I'm with you on Sphinx *could* have been our guard so perhaps only 3 missing a moisture one...mess and peanut are my favorite for crumbs

I would think more something like dust for mill no? I'm not fully off scarecrow but who knows...more likely something for moisture is left tho...curious what d1ab thinks

I still like scarecrow for guard. Other than mess, I like it better than any possible moisture or crumb answer.

I guess frog is the best moisture guess? Couldn't come up with a better idea.

The other crumb word could be bear (following crumbs?), dentist (crumbs in teeth?), map (follow crumb trail?), mill (creates crumbs?), minute (size of crumbs?), or peanut (shell crumbs?). Don't really feel strongly about any of them.

So, I would go mess and scarecrow, and then re-eval.

sphinx is pretty strong for that imo. and that would make 5

like when i was cluing, i just wanted you guys to stop guessing sausage words for like 2 rounds (completely my fault) because it was already finished, so i think we gotta go for words we know 100% are still out there

i mean i really think scarecrow is a great word for guard... i think it was even in my initial top 5, but not sure we can guess it second here if there's a chance we're done w/ it

i think my order would be mess, frog, mill (or peanut)

Fair enough. I'm just wondering if D1iab would reclue for Sphinx immediately after cluing for it initially. Guard - 5 was our first clue, and then he followed that with mythical - 2; would he clue for Sphinx back to back like that? I suppose he would if we were on the wrong track (e.g., captain), but how would we know?

I'm definitely good with mess. After that...I don't have a strong preference.

I'm cool with mess being first and I'm kinda with insanity's thinking that we might have gotten guard. We might not have either but think it's safer to start with other words since we really don't have a good way to know.

Am I overrating peanut? I wasn't thinking so much shells but just...crumbs...like what leaves crumbs on the floor besides bread and peanut did come to mind

really no clue if mill or peanut is better

i think mill is a more direct connection. much easier to miss but also extremely hard to clue for

i don't really think of crumbs when i think of peanuts, but it's the crumbiest food on there, heh

both of these have baking equity, but don't think we can worry about that

i guess i still lean to mill, but wouldn't argue if you guys want peanut

Agreed on being cautious here - we're in pretty good shape and don't need to take any unnecessary chances. I think I'm mill over peanut, but also would be OK with a pass here.

i think we gotta guess between those two since it's very likely we'll just be in the same position next round. even if we miss, we'll know the other is correct (hopefully)

and both words are hard to connect to just about anything else for a potential re-clue
