Looking at the board you were in a tough spot.

Helicopter was a blocker for lots of parachute clues
Fog was problem to get shower, as cloud, or sky type clues are out.
Descend 2 gets helicopter and parachute

Plus, the problem that we liked pit more than shower at that point, and fall seemed to reaffirm pit...

It is not like you had an easy way to get us off pit and onto parachute/shower with fog and helicopter there.

GG, all, and especially to my teammates, who nearly pulled off an improbable victory considering their spymaster threw up a ridiculous roadblock to start the game, then spent the rest of the game trying to fix it.

Manhattan - 6: Not sure if I was drunk, tired, or both when I gave this clue. Maybe I was just giddy that the other team had unblocked all their Manhattan Project words on the first clue of the game. This clue was for New York/Skyscraper/Buffalo/Helicopter...Theater and Tunnel. Yes, somehow I looked at the list and thought two neutral words were blue. It's one thing to make that mistake for one word, but for two words that aren't even close to each other on the list? Just stupid. (And that doesn't even count overlooking Marathon.) My apologies, team -- just a terrible first clue.

girl - 3: You guys were right on with Joan/Tutu/Valentine. I noticed Cover after the fact, and just figured it would be a decent spursian answer. If I'd noticed that earlier, and had I known you might have gotten Peach, too, I would have clued for 5. It's also ridiculous how simple this clue is after I spent a long time trying to figure out how to clue for Joan -- stake (Post), burn (Hospital), fire (Forest), even saint (Santa) all had blockers that were red or dark orchid.

three - 3: I used the word and not the number here so you wouldn't guess Figure, but that didn't quite work out. Sloth was pretty straightforward, and I was surprised you got Cover 3 defense as quickly as you did, since I thought that was the toughest connection and wasn't sure either of you were football fans. Alas, you didn't figure out three-wood until three clues later. (Golfer ArcticKnight knew it from the start...)

railroad - 0: At this point, both three and that ****ed-up Manhattan clue were leading us well off track (no pun intended), so I needed to rule out a few words (Tie, Tunnel, Spurs). You got Sloth and spursed into Taste as a Manhattan word (good by me!).

colors - 2: You guys eventually got the intended words (Peach and Parrot), but not before making your spymaster anxious by discussing Forest, a killer blocker that both I and borninabin had been meticulously avoiding. But I guess, in a sense, you did guess it, since Hospital gave them Forest.

wildfire - 4: With Forest and Hospital out of the way, I could finally get a fire-related clue in for our final four words. Burn gets Rope and Wood, and maybe Fog, but doesn't get Helicopter, so I went with wildfire to get Wood/Helicopter/Fog (which you guessed right away) and hoped the idea of rescuing people from a wildfire or dropping firefighters into a wildfire via rope would get you there. And it almost did:

We mentioned crusader being a likely Joan pair if possible, even tho girl worked out well. Plus horned being a scary clue for them if reindeer was ours, but couldn't quite rule them out enough

Yeah, I was hoping that you would get to Rope via POE as Crusader (Joan pairing) and Reindeer (horned) had decent reasons not to be correct.

I was like WTF is going on with Manhattan but I'm glad it was cause you didn't know either lol - well hey we almost recovered and nice clues to almost close it after that - we probably should have equity'd it out with your POE logic and landed on it though I still mighta guessed an animal...so close though! hurts when you say it earlier but don't pull the trigger, GG all
