Elementary is a TV show, which is most likely why it's capitalised. Helicopter was possibly the other follow word.

School could be a book word, but what's weird is the geometry 0 clue. Why give that if just to avoid line? It makes no sense.

It makes me wonder if school is even ours. Maybe it's pupil? But damn, elementary hits school so hard, it would be a huge gamble to expect us to not say it now.

We also got an unlimited clue, which would suggest that straw and rose aren't both ours since we ahould just get a 2 clue then. But I have no idea what else we're supposed to say otherwise.

at the time he clued geometry - 0 we had our list as:

maybe he misread this as we were going line next not as line and fly are after shakespeare and school, which weren't revealed, and thus the urgency to get us off line and maybe he didn't consider shakespeare or school then as he was just thinking of line+fly (and maybe pupil we had on our list) so geometry was for line+pupil and he didn't consider school


i think with Elementary as our clue, we have to assume this is what happened and so we can go school and since we now have 4 books, we can dismiss Shakespeare

those were the only lists we gave and both had shakespeare, so if he gives Elementary - 2 then we have to go with shakespeare and rose or straw

so he gives unlimited instead, trusting we'll get school+cast and then will go with rose+straw for our 2 grass words and ignore shakespeare because school hits book and because he DIDN'T go with Elementary - 2 for the 2 makeup words

so i think everything is resolved and makes sense with those 4 words

PC's "Line and Fly for makeup next turn" when we get 2 makeups each turn is a likely explanation for geometry - 0 while no other explanations that i can find make sense

it's also our best 2 grass words and our best 2 Elementary words

This was a bizarre game. I think it's the first time I've ever capitalized every clue I gave. (And if I had to do a last one, it would have been Turtles - 1.)

I also wasn't certain whether or not 9/11 was a viable clue. To me, I see it as "Nine Eleven," which is a two-word (and therefore illegal) clue. But it would have been the perfect clue for 3-4 words, and I was struggling to think of an alternative (I chose Qaeda over Towers as the best I could come up with).

The other weird thing was how you guys were on the right track with every clue, but there was always one neutral word in the mix as well, and you always had that one at or near the top of your list (Match, Bond, Bank, Fighter).

ExxonMobil - 4: I screwed the pooch with my first clue. Should have just gone Exxon, but since ExxonMobil is the actual name of the company these days and I wanted you guys to get Mammoth as one of the target words, I thought I should go with the full name. I was targeting Drill/Oil/Mammoth/Crash (Exxon Valdez crash/spill), but Amazon and Skyscraper were possibles, as was Line (though it looked like they were going to guess that one for us). Unfortunately, the clue took you down the path of mergers, which led to neutrals Match and Bond.

European - 3: Czech/Pole/Rome were the targets here. Didn't see Bank coming, but I see how it could fit. Also created a lot of uncertainty around Shakespeare, which was unintentional but in our favor.

China - 2: I was shooting for Dragon and Ninja here (I know Ninja is Japanese, but I was stretching), with Mexico as a viable spursian answer.

Wrinkle - 2: By this point, Born had clued red away from Line, so I had to clue for it myself, and Wrinkle got us Time as well (you guys were on top of this immediately).

Qaeda - 4: A desperate substitute for 9/11. Crash/Death/Skyscraper, plus Ninja again (a stretch, again), and then you had room to still get Pole for the win. Alas, Fighter and Jack (both understandable) got in the way, leading to...

Nicholson - 0: Since Jack was clearly your next guess, I needed to steer you away from that so we could either win or get within one word of winning on this turn. You had Skyscraper, Crash, and Pole in your pocket, so it came down to that last word. And even if you didn't get Ninja, as long as you didn't guess Helicopter (which wasn't on red's radar yet) or School (which red thought wasn't theirs) or one of the assassins, we'd almost certainly get another turn. Wellllll...

We got a bit lucky at the end, but with Shakespeare still up in the air and Born needing to convince his team that School was really theirs, it was far from a done deal.

Anyway, great job hanging in there, blue. And tough loss, red.

Sorry guys, red had the better board imo but I screwed up multiple times and nails didn't return the favor. I have been waiting for a week to apologise for geometry -0. All of your guesses were solid, except maybe foot and not going 1 + 3 at the end, though the last one is actually also on me for the conflicting clues.

Clothing should probably have been outfit? I saw line but a little too late. Wanted to do this at the beginning because sock would be one of your first guesses.
Thought book - 5 would steer you more towards line/Amazon (well, book-4 did as well) and had some other good options for trip.
For some reason I was temporarily convinced school was already guessed and pupil was now high on your list. Sight/eye was actually one of my options there but maybe one of you would feel bottle had a lot of geometry equity which would make my life easier, and geometry seemed strongest for line (didn't wanna hit too much more neutrals/blue).
Not sure if foot was mentioned before that clue, else I might clue physics which is weaker for line but better for foot. (I was quite horrified when both foot and cast were in the cards, never imagined one of them would be. Still don't really get foot.)
I had some hopes when they guessed helicopter but I guess the capital E was the final blow. You might go Shakespeare (1 elementary + 3 make up words) if it was a small e, or if I never confuse you out of school in the first place.

Sorry again for the terrible geometry clue, I'm rightfully embarrassed. At least that made the game real tight in the end when they guessed the one word I didn't clue for yet.
