Really great clue with card - 0. Got me off basically 100% of everything bad, plus led me to some of our words.

This. It was my first clue, and paddle was still out there, so I didn't want to go with boat. A ship doesn't park in a slip, but a yacht does. Sorry that ended up being a difficult clue to parse.

It was a Hail Mary. No way to clue for all of our remaining words, and there were few enough words left on the list that I just needed to eliminate the worst ones and let you take a stab at it. Which you did quite well.

Good job especially on getting Satellite -- in your shoes, I probably wouldn't have guessed it because of its connection to poker (satellite tournaments). I knew Orange was a likely guess, but hoped you wouldn't go for Fighter (fight card or scorecard) or University (school ID card).

Yeah, there was a lot of dicey guessing in there, but I felt fairly confident actually. Full process went something like this:

Ace - no cause of cards
Dryer - this is never red, since he clues appliance or something for oven, so that's usually safe
Fighter - possible attorney connection, so last choice
Fork - probably 'cooking' or something if it's red, so little risk there
Game - no cause of card
Orange - ?? could have been, but really weak cooking connection here, so less likely to be red
Peanut - no strong red connection, and maybe another 'cooking' but weak enough that I felt ok
Ruler - no because of wooden
Satellite - something around radiation for microwave/sattelite, so less likely to be red
Slip - slip someone your card
University - possible attorney connection
Werewolf - another cards/game connection

So the list didn't seem too bad. If I guess a neutral it's nbd as we're about equally likely to lose, just wanted to avoid red words.

Well ****, I'm not quite sure how we lost that one, but we both had really tough boards imo and nails' 0 clue was great.

Ace was the last attorney word (ace attorney is like a hotshot lawyer, plus Ace Attorney is a game series. I decided not to capitalise it because I didn't want you saying game, which was the assassin). I knew it was a bit of a stretch, but there weren't that many blockers I was worried about, so it seemed fine, and I couldn't see a great way to connect it to anything else without game getting in the way.

Wooden was where it fell apart - bark/paddle/ruler. I figured you's say fiddle, but it was only neutral, so no big deal as long as long as you could pick it up next turn. But you never mentioned bark, so I wasn't sure it was even on your list. But then you seemed to think microwave was a wooden word and said bark instead of ruler??? It put me in a weird spot where I had to hit ace hard and reclue for ruler (which was actually significantly harder than I thought it would be). I really needed you to realise that ace was the final attorney word and we still needed a wooden word, otherwise we were toast.

Ah well, gg blues, nice try eric.

I mean, you literally bolded it the turn before and then just completely went off it the next turn and said bark instead. It threw me for a bit of a loop tbh.
