Maybellene was a seminal early rock and roll song by Chuck Berry about a car chase between him and his girl.

Even if you were familiar with the song, I knew chick was a possible guess, but at least it was neutral.

GG. We had an easy board. If they got what Maybellene was (and guessed Chuck Berry) I was going blue 4 for whale/wave/code/angel. Good reads irtm, perfect game.

That was the plan, and I would have been happy to clue Maybellene last, but Spike was also possible for Deer and Code for Word, so I wanted to wait until those words were off the board if possible.

At the end, I was hoping Schoolhouse would get Spell, Rock (Schoolhouse Rock), and Compound, and maybe the cosmetics angle on Maybellene would get Press (like press-on nails), and after that...blind guessing.

Was an educational kid series that had songs. Most famous one was conjunction junction. "Conjunction junction what's your function?" Other famous one was about bills for the Senate etc. I'm just a bill up on capital hill or something.

I like that I actually could've got 3 unintended blue words if I had just gone with the cosmetics company words I had typed out (compound, press, spell).

I hadn't seen that before -- I just looked it up and watched it. I think they got the same guy from the original Schoolhouse Rock song to sing it.

Nails, not sure if you know this or not, but just for future reference - I'm Australian, so most Ameri-centric clues are likely to go over my head...especially sports related ones. My movie knowledge is pretty good tho.
