I screwed this one up for sure. I knew I should just stfu, but I had an irrational certainty that I knew the word. I just thought it would be fun to take an aggro line. It didn't quite work out as planned.

At first, I thought it was Latin with a side of Spanish. I figured the giving the classification clue would either out me (and I would therefore know it was Spanish) or cement AK's fate.

It is possible I'm hilariously wrong and it is neither. Music is possible, for instance. I'm worried about the perceived strength of meter as related to the word.

I presume people would get the classification clue as Latin. Barring getting leveled or just being flat out wrong, I think spanish is my best guess.

It is in fact the only romance language on the board, Spanish.

EB's clue was good (could have covered latin, music, chemistry, spanish.... maybe even biology). It was just unfortunate that oral and spoken were also there.. combined effect narrowed the options.

meter is actually a pretty good clue for Spanish, to the extent that meter is a language term and Spain is on the metric system

I guess when I thlnk of Spanish I think language. When I think of latin I think of etymology, linguistics, connections to fields like law and medicine...

Also if you extend it to the Romantic period, you get English and history at least. With the other clues though, it really could only be Spanish or Latin.
