First hand 4S, you have a terrible hand for slam. You are missing 5 of the 7 keycards AKQs, Ah, Qd. Kh could be relevant as well. If this slam is better than a finesse, partner will not pass 4S.

The other I pass. If 2S is making, anything you bid could be -800. Defending 2S seems the last possible plus.

Damn, already getting the WD after 4 sessions. GG Harris, nice run. Looks like another Lall v Grue finals.

lol i was gonna say it's pretty strong to have some wd equity at halftime. let's go!

even though harris looked completely outclassed, i have a lot of respect for them. howard, especially, and jacob morgan is a known baller. good guys and good bridge players.

They beat some pretty good teams to get that far. I almost said something when whoever it was said "snap taking Harris" that would have looked silly at this point.

theyve run hot this tournament but itd be crazy to pick either of the other teams, obviously, and it's not close.

Nickell v Diamond is my #1 USA match to watch

Diamond v Fleisher is my #2 USA match to watch for the Lall v Grue. GLGL

Is there a way to follow the matches live, or semi-live. I've been out of bridge for a long time, but I'm looking to get back in.

http://www.bridgebase.com/vugraph/schedule.php

shows the times of the matches, you can view the matches at

Diamond v Fleisher is about as good as it gets. They have 120 boards over the next 2 days.

It looked to me like the Harris team got fatigued and started making some unforced errors. They had played extremely well for several days, but then had to play teams that were much more rested (6 vs 5, plus Nickell and Diamond had byes). It's very tough to play with no margin for error for days on end.

Agreed

Ps: time to commence crushing, Diamond.

Anyone think it would be better/more fair of the brackets to drop right into the usa2 final?

Nv all imps
You are dealer
Ops preempt to 3h in 2nd, partner bids 3s

With
j9x xx qjtxx kxx

Is bidding game mandatory? Feels close to me

Yes imo

Meh, I think it's not mandatory, it's probably close, but I would usually.

(Vulnerable it is mandatory, you just can't miss vulnerable games)

Close - I think being a passed hand likely swings it to a 4S bid

Passing is letting the terrorists, I mean preemptors win

Teams Vulnerable against not - Dealer on your right opens 2H showing 5+ hearts 4+ spades 6-10 - you bid 3C and it comes back to you after X XX pass ?

Yeah I understand that 3C might not of been your choice but it is not responsive to ***** about it given where we are now which interests me - if you are too offended pretend one of those small clubs is actually the king of clubs - for what it worth I prefer 3C to pass so happy to debate that too

X is explained as blood - You don't have an agreement about the XX but your partner is an expert

First reaction was 3D, but second thought is there's no rational way this should be SOS here (SOS for what?), so let's rumble

If nothing else we will learn about someone's sense of humor after the hand

Ethics question. Playing in a regional swiss with my dad. We are against a grand life master who declaring a hand. During the play. I don't remember the exact hand, but it was something like KJxxx on the board and I lead to dads ace. GLM semi frustratingly flicks the queen of diamonds on the table like it was a singleton. I have a count on the hand and know it is a lie. Dad doesn't and misdefends. But I mean his act was as such I would of thought it was a singleton if I didn't have a count. Is there a case to be made or was it dirty but legal?
