Not aching to defend 3Hx with nothing. At least we can ruff a spade in our hand.

They've got 6+ heart tricks, and partner is endplayed every time he gets in. Doesn't take much to get to 9. Pard rates to be 42(34), right?

I wish I could put it back to pard to bid a minor, but a confident 4c here could be the winning action easily.

I don't know that it's right, but I don't think it's nearly as obvious as you're making it out to be.

With a practiced enough partnership, I think I'd try 3NT and redouble if they double. You never know, they might not, and at least this ensures a 4-4 fit.

Honestly, if you could take -500 and walk away you would, so that seems as close to the right way to get there as you can get.

Also I think goes without saying if I know my pard or opps better then that can make a difference. Like there's some opps where I'd say pass is auto and others where 4c is auto

I ended up passing with what had to be the worst hand I've ever converted a takeout with.

I mean, we have half the deck, and they are in an 8 card fit at the 3 level. It has to be thin value to pass here... It's risky as hell, but it has to be our last chance for a positive. I'm pretty sure I led a heart and then just followed suit for the rest of the defense...

Yeah I was sure declarer was making when dummy came down. I had a hard time trying to envision what the **** he was bidding 3h on R/R

First, you will need plutonium for your DeLorean, since the event is underway and first quarter scores have been posted.

Other than that I have no idea; my usual play is to find high seeds who may be past their prime or not in regular partnerships/teams, and pick against them. Disclaimer: I usually suck at these.
