pretty sick I got to watch Wolfson bid slam after learning he was off 2 key cards, then make it on 32 hearts 43 clubs a spade hook a heart hook and a diamond hook, and on his line 43 spades with the 3 card suit on his right. lol. then our opps bid grand on 32 trumps and the trump q on.

at least our guys made slam off an ak when suit wasn't led and trumps were 32!

i feel like fmk has a spade in with his clubs or something on board 2

Clearly you just need to get on his level.

Interesting that for fmk 1D-1S-1NT-2H is natural/GF. Handy to have.

I assume 1D-2H is a not so good 5-4+?

afaik yes, and 1D 2S is a better 5-4+

Diamond v. Fireman should be a helluva match

Live odds update

Diamond 2-1
Fleischer 7-3
Fireman 7-2
Coren 6-1

Fleischer proving the oddsmaker was bad.

feels like Fleisher should have the best shot now even if you think we are a little bit better.

I just want revenge from last year lol.

I'm not sure what was worse, Greco's 5D bid on 9 or Fireman's defense to leave another 300 on the table

Probably the latter because 5D could be right 2% of the time

Definitely the reflex cover of the honor. Can't possibly be right with Ax in dummy to cover the J.

He did well with Q98 AQJx --- AQxxxx also, 1C 3D p p to him w/r and he chose to pass. This was cold and partner was 4342 so bidding doesn't work well.

Also with Jxxx Q xxx KQxxx, His partner overcalled 1S and he chose to raise and sell out to 3D. Partner had only 4 spades and spades gets killed, possibly doubled.

Are these the nuts for the proverbial blind squirrel? ;-)

And my god Wooldridge needs to play faster than cold molasses

Watching JLall/Bathurst v. Vinny/Kranny on live stream is great. They are so loose compared to some of the other uptight pairs I've watched this week.

Having fun playing a game?!??! Preposterous!

I partnered Wooldridge once, when I had only been playing two or three years. At one point opps asked me whether I agrees that partner had broken tempo in a competitive auction. I didn't, because his tempo wasn't consistent enough that I could tell. (He may play totally differently now; that was a lot of years ago.)

He seems to have worked the fast tempo out of his game.

I'm assuming the seating in this match isn't decided by who plays better against whom but by "let's put the smokers at the table opposite Wooldridge so we can get a smoke break in halfway through the set and still finish first".
